Wendi:
Here's where I keep my anger pointed: directly at the addiction, the nicodemon who wants me back (No WAY!!!), the tobacco industry, and myself for letting them all win for far too many years.
That really does keep me focused.
You are doing great!! You have a wonderful family who understands and you WILL get through it all.
Keep breathing, reward yourself and KNOW you are on the right and only path for yourself, one that you chose for very good reason.
Keep the faith.

Hey, does your wife know about Wendi posting mushy love messages to you??!!
Congratulations to you both -- you're doing better than you think you are. The nicotine is out of your systems by now, so the worst of the physical cravings is behind you.
I'd love to hear about your Nicotine Anon meeting, didn't even know there was such a thing.
Everything you can do to keep on the right path couldn't hurt and can only help.
Welcome and keep the faith.

Welcome -- and congratulations on three days. We here know what a big deal three days is.
I, too, quit on Chantix. In fact, I just finished up my 12 week program. I would agree with you that it is very helpful and I'm so glad I found it, as you did.
I also have learned, though, that the one major thing that has made this quit successful is this: I finally understand that I'm a drug addict and the only way to quit smoking is to not smoke.
Seems simple, huh? Obviously, it's not easy, but it is a very simple concept that is so critically important in making this work.
You'll see this a lot on here -- NOPE -- Not One Puff Ever.
Glad you're here. Hopefully you'll work the program on the left of the screen. It will help you tremendously.
Let us know how we can help.
Hope to hear from you again soon and see how you're coming along.
Keep the faith.

Jnine: Welcome back. You know you've come to the right place.
You quit before -- a good long quit -- and you can do it again.
I quit with Chantix and have found it very helpful.
But my attitude change, I think, really has made the difference. Now I understand that I'm a drug addict and I don't want to be an addict for one more second. The more I've understood about addiction, the easier this has been.
Stick with the Chantix, even if you have some side effects. They don't tend to be too severe and the medication does help with the cravings.
Let us know how we can help you.
Keep the faith.

Well, this just gives me chills. What a wonderful thread to read.
Coach Don, welcome, welcome, welcome! And Dad John - wow! What great stats you have -- most impressive and of course inspiring for all of us here. Thank you.
I'll be watching for word from both father and son.
Keep the faith.

Hurray, Kaffy, you're doing great. Hell week is just about over for you.
Welcome -- we're happy to have you here and help in any possible way we can.
I like the idea of saying the words, "I'm a non-smoker", but you really have to believe it. When I look back on the many times over 35 years that I quit, I realize that I never really saw myself as a non-smoker.
I had quit smoking, but I felt like a poser, a faker. "Who are you kidding? You're a smoker, always have been".
Now I understand that I'm addicted to this awful drug which has enslaved me for all these years and I'm damn tired of it! Now I have truly changed my self-talk.
Now when I say I'm a non-smoker, I believe it!
You can, too!
Keep the faith

Mel: Welcome! You have SUCH a good attitude -- that is more than half the battle, I'm convinced.
When the tough moments come, reread what you just wrote. Or better yet, print it out for yourself.
You know as well as the rest of us how easy it is to focus on the wrong things when the going gets tough.
We're here for you. I hope you've worked the program tools on the left of the screen. You'll find that very helpful.
Go get 'em!

Well said, Golferman! Great and inspiring words.
Golfergal: I'm also a golf fanatic, so you must be a kindred spirit. The golf analogy from Golferman is terrific. Re-read it, because there are some wise and useful words there.
So welcome aboard. One note of caution: Make sure you're quitting for YOU, not your son, and not your boyfriend. There are obviously benefits for both of them when you quit, but it MUST be for you.
Get angry at the addiction that has enslaved you for so long. That anger, along with a much better understanding of addiction is what has made the difference for me in this quit, my final quit. And it only took 35 years to get through to this thick head!
Congratulations -- you're off to a great start.
Let us help you in any way we can.

Icando: Read 2Tone's post again. My best response to that is "DITTO". What he said is right on.
I have finished up on my Chantix program and have found it useful.
I would like to recommend the Alan Carr book. It really helped turn my attitude around before I quit, so that I was much better prepared.
The Chantix alone will not suffice if you haven't yet determined that quitting is the choice you've made -- for good.
You can do it -- we're here to help.
Keep us posted.
