Hi this is jnine, I have been smoking again after a 3 year quit. I know pretty stupid hug? I don't even know why I took that first puff. I am taking a new smoking aid called CHANTIX has anyone heard of it or tried it?

jnine, I'm currently using the Chantix to quit, and I have to say, I think its amazing. I smoked a little over a pack a day for 10 years, and physically, my cravings haven't been that severe. Mentally is a different story. I think what's gotten me this far is a lot of support from my friends and family and a positive attitude on my part. Whenever I want one, I just picture myself doing activities in the future that I know I wouldn't have been able to do had I continued smoking. Running in a 5k with my wife, playing basketball with my kids, etc. Make sure you follow the directions for Chantix. Take it a full week before you quit (the cigs will start tasting funny at best), and always eat a little something before you take it. Don't watch scary movies before you go to bed, either :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 146 Amount Saved: $22.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 19 Mins: 25 Seconds: 19

Hi Jnine - Another Chantix quitter here. This is my 4th week on the meds. The most amazing week was the 1st, when you're supposed to smoke. By the end of that week, I wanted to quit and was down to 2 smokes a day. Since I quit, it's been hard to tell if Chantix has been helping or not. Anyway, I keep taking it. I'm starting my 3rd week tomorrow and just like any other quitter, I'm suffering from the same psychological withdrawl symptoms, so Chantix don't help with that, either. Anyway, good to have you here. Stay on your meds and stay strong. -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 387 Amount Saved: $71.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 6 Mins: 34 Seconds: 43

Jnine: Welcome back. You know you've come to the right place. You quit before -- a good long quit -- and you can do it again. I quit with Chantix and have found it very helpful. But my attitude change, I think, really has made the difference. Now I understand that I'm a drug addict and I don't want to be an addict for one more second. The more I've understood about addiction, the easier this has been. Stick with the Chantix, even if you have some side effects. They don't tend to be too severe and the medication does help with the cravings. Let us know how we can help you. Keep the faith.
