Imallclear has 7 days! So I thought I'ld say HOORAY

Hurray, Imallclear! I know it wasn't an easy 7 days, but you did it! Way to go! (Is it even possible to watch that dancing baby without smiling? He's SO cute!) Keep the faith. headache.....

Well, that could be. I wouldn't have firsthand knowledge, though, since I'm still gorging on as much sugar as I can get! So, this is what I can look forward to if/when I finally decide enough is enough? Yikes! Losing Steam Now

Freedom: Get mad -- get really mad! At the addiction, at the fact that you're feeling the way you are BECAUSE of the addiction. The ONLY way to never have to face this again is to kill the addiction. It's not a coincidence that non-smokers never feel the way you are right now. Focus your anger on the addiction and as has been suggested, stomp, kick, bite, whatever it takes to keep the nicodemon away. He's bad news and will always be bad news. HANG IN THERE, Freedom! We're all behind you. Keep the faith -- and your quit! Interesting Observation from Interesting :-)

"Interesting": I've decided the quotation marks are important given how you've described it. "So", they say, "you're a very 'interesting' person". Hey, I've been called worse and I'm sure you can say the same thing. It's NOT pathetic, it's what makes you "interesting" and "unique". ha ha ha Actually, I like your approach of making a game of this, of distancing yourself and looking at it all as something "interesting". I've tried to look at a craving in a somewhat clinical way. In that way, it's not nearly as personal and can't hurt me. I don't know if that makes any sense or not, but it does to me, so I guess that's what's important. I so admire your positive attitude. And look at you -- almost through hell week! Keep the faith. Hard, Harder & Hardest

Gismo: They call it Hell Week for a reason, you know! It would seem you've discovered that now. It does seem as though smoking and cigarettes are the ONLY possible thoughts you can have, but it's not true. You are thinking of other things, especially when you take the time to focus on something else, something pleasant. I'm not a long-time quitter -- 90 days tomorrow, but I smoked for 35 years and quit many times. With this last and final quit (I KNOW this to be true), I was and am still able to look at smoking for what it really is, what it has taken from me, and what I refuse to let it continue to take. When you watch someone smoke, step back and really look at them. Do not allow the addiction to dictate the language in your head ("oh, that looks so good", "I sure wish I could have a smoke", etc. Switch the language to "wow, he/she sure looks sad and pathetic smoking". "It stinks so bad." "That smoker doesn't look like a happy smoker at all". "That smoker wishes he was me -- a non-smoker." Then review all your wonderful reasons for quitting. Then celebrate your success. It's simple really -- just don't smoke. NOPE -- Not One Puff Ever Keep the faith -- and KEEP YOUR QUIT!

Lil nervous!!!!!!!

LIVE: Your Kansas City Chiefs beat up on my Seattle Seahawks! Hmmph!! Well, I guess the nonsmoking sisterhood must prevail, so here's your kick in the rump: You know you will have those irritable moments -- plan for them. How will you handle them? Certainly a cigarette would make you even MORE irritable, huh? You've done great so far -- almost through Hell Week. Remember how simple it is: Just Don't Smoke!! Anything else (short of murder) is acceptable. Now, I'll root for your Chiefs tomorrow if you'll root for my Seahawks. Keep the faith -- and your quit! 5th day

XRay: 47 years is a very, very long time to smoke. Kind of feel like maybe you've dodged some major bullets, huh? 35 years for me and you're right, it is very hard. But I can tell you that you will never be prouder of anything else you've ever done. WE know how hard it is -- that's why we're all here. The support you get from others going through exactly the same hell is priceless. So are you -- priceless and worth the fight. Keep the faith -- and your quit. i made it

Kansas: We need to change your name to "Made it in Kansas". "Trying" is such a wimpy word, really. You must have confidence in your righteous decision to smack this addiction down. You CAN do this -- it will really and truly get better and you will be rewarded for these very difficult first few days. Keep celebrating your success. Go look in a full-length mirror and take a bow to yourself! You're awesome! Keep the faith -- and your quit! 12 hours

Cathietri: That voice you keep hearing isn't your mind -- it's the nicodemon trying to convince you that you've made a bad decision to kick him to the curb. But you know better -- and despite how loud the voice may get, you're stronger. You KNOW you've made the right choice. Here are some better words: "I don't smoke." "I won't smoke." "NOPE - Not One Puff Ever". Remember: smoking is not an option. This will get better, I promise. Hang in there. Keep the faith -- and your quit.
