medication...

Hi -- I'm also a Chantix quitter, approaching three months. In fact, I just yesterday finished with the pills. I'm doing great -- I do recommend Chantix. I believe it has been easier to get through cravings, BUT your mindset going into your quit is THE most important thing. Understand your addiction and get angry about it -- every time I do get a craving now (not nearly as often), I choose to see it as a reminder of the seriousness of my 35-year addiction. I've made a decision to get control over it. It's always a choice you have. I choose to not smoke. NOPE -- Not One Puff Ever. That's the ONLY way to become and remain a non-smoker. Go get 'em and keep the faith! I feel like crap

Right on, Jim and 2Tone! Once I aimed my anger at the right place -- my 35 years of giving myself over to this ridiculous, disgusting addiction -- THEN I was able to stay quit. Like you, Jim, there's NO WAY I'm giving it one more day -- I'M in control now and it feels SO GOOD!! In previous quits, I would wander around feeling terribly sorry for myself because I couldn't have my smokes. Obviously, that attitude only got me right back into smoking. This time -- I'm pissed off -- and it's making all the difference in the world! P.S. I'm with you -- those damn tobacco companies should be drawn and quartered! Keep the faith! Day Two - No Big Deal

2Tone: What a great attitude! That's why this seems so easy for you. You have truly made this commitment to yourself and moved on. You're focusing only on the positive and congratulating yourself on being a non-smoker. Way to go! Keep the faith. We Made It!!!!!!

Reporting in, sirs! Happy to report not a single puff and more importantly, I don't remember even thinking about smoking on Christmas day. Too busy enjoying all the indulgences and my family, particularly my 2-year old granddaughter. What a great feeling to realize the nicodemon was off for Christmas (or maybe I just didn't hear him). I do have a hearing loss, so maybe this is one situation where my hearing problem is a good thing! I can't hear the little monster whispering in my ear. Keeping the faith here. Congratulations to all who made their first Christmas smoke-free in many, many moons. December 27th Wednesday's Wonder Quitters!

Mr Ed: I don't want to whine or anything, but why am I not on your list? Today marks 80 days! I'm pretty darn proud! Thanks. Vi: What on earth is a "nicotine-free cigarette"? I've never heard of such a thing. Look, you know that smokers love to sabotage themselves. So, once you had that smoke, did it help? Did it solve all your cravings, all your problems? Of course it didn't. In fact, it just made things worse because now you feel like a "loser" (your words). You allowed yourself to feel like a loser, because you chose to have that smoke. It's all about making choices. On December 26th, you chose to stop smoking. Now that's a good choice. Chantix is a great help, but you have to really want to quit more than you want to smoke. Get right back up on that horse and back to your quit. You CAN do this! Don't fall into the trap of feeling sorry for yourself that you've given up cigarettes. That is so very dangerous. Change your mindset to one that constantly congratulates yourself for making such a great decision, such a wonderful choice to be a nonsmoker. Hang in there and Keep the faith. Quitters List - Revised

Mr. Ed: Ok, I'm begging now, how pathetic, huh? Why am I not included on your list? This is the third time I've asked and have never received a response. What's up with that?? Welcome, Vi and Mzb: I too quit with the aid of Chantix. In fact, I took my final pill just last night. I found it very helpful, along with my solid, solid commitment to break this addiction for good. I'm so happy to see new people on this support site -- it means we're getting that much closer to bringing tears to the eyes of the tobacco industry leaders. Hurray!! Keep up the good work, keep breathing, keep rewarding yourself and be good to yourself during your quit. New and sooooo addicted

Anoush: THAT's the spirit! What a wonderful reward -- 12 hours is huge -- you deserved the reward. You said yourself, you had one cigarette and "plunged back into addiction". That's the key -- you are a drug addict. We all are and that's why NOPE is so very, very important. Not One Puff Ever!! There's sort of a nice simplicity to it, if you think about it. How do I shake this addiction and become a non-smoker? Never smoke and it's a done deal! That doesn't mean it's easy -- nothing worthwhile ever is, is it? Keep reading on this support site and send a cry for help when you need it -- that's what this is all about. Post when you feel great, too! Keep the faith.
