Thoughts/Craves/Anxiety

Thanks Windy,Casey and Marie, I guess y'all are right! It doesn't really matter what I call them as long as I arm myself with all my coping strategies/tools. I just felt "weak" with these feelings, and I DO NOT like feeling like that. I guess it's just a tiny glimpse of the hold this addiction has on me. Yuck, this may get ugly! LOL Thanks, Deb My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 215 Amount Saved: $37.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 0 Mins: 33 Seconds: 8

Thoughts/Craves/Anxiety

Hi! I've done a lot of reading on here and I appreciate all the support you've given me thus far! I have a question but it may sound a little dumb. My quit has been great until yesterday. I began having thoughts about cigarettes. I saw someone light a cigarette in a passing vehicle and the routine (cigarette in mouth, lighter in other hand, the first scorch of hot smoke in my throat, etc.)was so incredibly familiar, I could almost feel it myself. Yesterday, I think that if I could've figured out how, I'd have smoked the stinking sofa! So I understand yesterday that I was cravin' like crazy. But today has been more of just a thought floating through my addled brain every now and them. Are the thoughts and craves the same thing? I certainly felt much more anxious with what I think was a crave. I just wondered if I'm just craving or being "nostalgic"! I don't personally like either of those feelings! LOL Either way, I didn't smoke and life is still good! Rewards

Hi Pete, I agree that the freedom and power are wonderful rewards in and of themselves! But I do try to take a few minutes for just me, even if it's spending an extra hour here at the SSC, reading and chatting. It really helps strengthen my resolve and embrace my quit! Stay strong and believe in yourself! Your health is worth the trouble of quitting! Hugs, Deb My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 207 Amount Saved: $37.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 23 Mins: 34 Seconds: 31

Control

Pete, Like you said, we have to create a new "normal" and yes, it is a challenge! But to me it sounds like you are off to a great start! Staying busy, chugging water, reading and posting on SSC have been a tremendous help to me. Everyone is here to support you when your day or hour has not been great, but they also lavish you with praise when you have a good day. And remember, we're all here for the same reason, to free ourselves from a nasty hateful addiction.
