Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! I feel like after reading for a couple of weeks all these wonderful posts, I already know some of you! I don't expect this journey to be easy but it is a comfort to know that you have been where I am and the pitfalls that I will invariably encounter! Thanks and I look forward to "talking" to you all! Hello, I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks after getting my prescription for Chantix. I've quit before using the patch, gum, etc. but "something" always drove me back to the cigarettes. Yes, I know, there will always be "something." Anyway, I took my first dose of Chantix this morning and am ready to begin my journey! I've begun a notebook to chronicle my journey and hopefully this will be my last quit! I have a 7 year old son that I want to see grow up, I want to be able to run in the backyard with him and my husband. I want to be able to never again think or plan about my next cigarette. Say a prayer for me and I look forward to getting to know lots of people here who have been where I am and have continued their journey successfully. Debbie

Day One Almost Complete

Thank everyone for the warm welcome! I've looked forward to coming home and checking in all day! I've got about 4 more hours before my first day is complete! But so far so good! I was really busy today and even when I did get a break, I was ready with something else to do! Thank heaven I took the time to plan ahead! I drank LOTS of water today. But the funny thing is that I was more proud of the way that I smelled than anything else! What is up with that? Anyway, I think we're going out for dinner this evening so that won't be a problem. We live in a county where all indoor smoking has been banned for over a year. And then I'll probably read more posts here after that! I'm so thankful to have the knowledge and support from all of you here! Talk to you all later, Debbie My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 33 Amount Saved: $3.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 52 Seconds: 5

Only 2 Cigs left in the pack...quitting today

Hi phiber, I'm also smoking my last tonight, I think I've got four left in my pack! I'm not insane with worry yet and have really worked on having strategies in place so that I won't be caught off guard! I too am tired of being a slave to my habit. I wish you well! Let me know how you're doing!

Chantix anyone?

Hi trailbum, Congrats on your quit! I have been taking Chantix for 1 1/2 weeks and will be smoking my last cigarette tonight. It's great to hear some positive feedback! If I may ask, why did you stop the pills at 8 weeks? Or did I misunderstand your post? How are you doing now without the meds? Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Again, congratulations on your sweet success! New Quitter

Hi all, I've been pretty much lurking while taking a week and a half of Chantix. Tonight, I will smoke my last cigarette. I've smoked for 26 years and am really tired of being a slave to my habit. I'm ready and am doing my best to maintain my positive attitude as I approach the "zero hour." I quit for 7 weeks last summer but I caved when I thought I could not handle the stress without my "dear friend" of a habit. I've gotten lots of new ideas from all of your posts and I hope to keep learning everyday. I know this won't be easy at all but I know that I can count on the support here and that's a big comfort to me right now. I'll check in tomorrow afternoon after work. Please say a prayer for me. Thanks, Deb My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Waxing philosophical

Good Morning Todash! Your positive attitude and the joy you feel for your newfound senses are what will keep your quit going and going! Congratulations on your awesome 12 days! Cherish your quit and all the wonderful benefits that are now yours! Perfect skin, shiny hair, being able to breath with both nostrils, tasting food, being able to really smell all the perfumes at the department store! I think this list could go on for a long time. Take pleasure in these things that we've cheated ourselves out of for a good portion of our lives! This journey is not always easy BUT with a positive outlook, I feel that the "tough" stretches of the road are easier to navigate! Congrats!
