Day 8 and counting...

Hi, I bumped up a couple of old post in the coping with withdrawl section that might help : Newbies day 1-8, days 8-15, and 15-30. If nothing else, they will help pass the time. The Daily Diet Watch IV

Working on the sparks, I am staying below 1200 most days and below 20 gm of fat. It takes alot more thought to stay below. Or else I just have to stop eating when it gets close. Went out and climbed down to the road and back and then went to the back of the property which made it just about a mile total. But the up hill and down hill part really got to me. Dinner was a roast with potatoes, carrots, and onion. lunch was a peppered turkey sandwich on whole wheat and a little bit of butter on the bread. the normal dr. pepper and some potaoe chips that ate up the calories. had a container of kraft chocolate fatfree pudding after dinner. that's it no breakfast today. Havn't been motivated enough to put that loser video back in yet. Maybe next week. But... I bought one of those big balls, and have been doing some core exercises and stretches. Every little bit helps. Cheryl

The scariest thing happened today.

Not to mention that you might give them reason never to smoke around you! Trying to quit today

Welcome Molly. So glad that today is the day you decieded to change your life to a non-smoking one. I spent nearly 40 years smoking and like you just found my self one day entertaining the idea that I could be a non-smoker. I could just quit. So I did my homework here, picked my date, practiced cutting down, said my prayers and stopped smoking. I hung around here a lot the first month. Read nearly everything on the boards, practiced breathing, and drank alot of fluids... Wow, easier than I thought, look at me now... Cheryl No Joking, I'm Still Not Smoking! You can do it too!

Hi there :-)

Dear Wannabe, You got the title right. That is what it really takes. To want to be an ex-smoker more that you wannabe a smoker. That is much easier for me to believe this time than it has been all the other times that I tried to quit and failed. It just takes saying each time that you really don't want that smoke bad enough to put up with all the effects that it will bring. People write books about all the bad effects of smoking.. You can read them if you want. Here you need to stay positive. I can..becomes your watch word. And like most things, the more you practice then the better you get at it. So congratulations on the decision, welcome aboard, make yourself at home and stay as long as you like. If you should need help, just shout out and someone will be along very soon to help you. THE BEACH (Century Club)

LOOK WHO IS ON THE WAY!!!!! (squinting my eyes against the bright sunshine) I can see Brown Sugar and Tess and Yodawizard all walking this way.. I expect them to break into a running gallop any minute. At the first stroke of midnight they will reach the magic 100 day entrance to the Beach. Kitty, Silver, and Journey please run over to cuddles site and tell her that there will be 3 more for breakfast. Anna2 was supposed to be here on the 14th and I haven't seen her yet. MC you still working on the games? What is first on the list? 3kittiesrule- Maybe you could light the torches from the bonfire so they don't get lost on the way here. I can't do fancy pictures and stuff, but C*O*N*G*R*A*T*U*L*A*T*I*O*N*S We are so happy to see each of you here. Maybe Louie, pookey, Tulip, Blueberry, Chansi- all of you can work togeather to get some more hammocks set up.? I see about 20 more people headed this way over the next 2 weeks and they are all strung out along the way. How wonderful to have new neighbors! Here we go again !!!

Dreamer, You are making it. One day at a time, one breath at a time. At first the cravings are many, and strong, and last f o r e v e r. You know? But just hold out a little longer. Drink plenty of fluids to help wash the nicotine away. Eat plenty of healthy snacks, and keep your hands busy. That is why being her is so good. You can't type and smoke at the same time. Keep that wallet locked up. You are saving that money for something special...what was that again? Hey have you started an exercise program yet? Try playing some music as loud as you can stand, and singing along. You will need the practice for the campfires on the beach. From what I see you will be there faster than you dream possible. Keep on breathing Cheryl No Joking, I'm Still Not Smoking!

Any tip

Irobbo, As trite as it may sound the biggest favor that you can do for all of you is to go through the program on the left. It helps you to solidify the reasoning behind your quit for you. It also gives you something to hang on to during that first all important week of your quit. There you will learn about coping techniques, and rewards and their importance to your continuing on. There are many back post in these forums that you can spend hours reading. Some have great list of rewards, or coping techniques, or ideas of things to distract yourselves. They also contain information on some of the situations that you need to plan to cope with later in your quit. So come often and read alot. Post when you feel like it, and it's ok to whine or complain. It's also ok to be happy and to have an easy quit. A lot of the choice is up to you. It is only as hard as you believe it is. So come on in, the waters fine. Cheryl No Joking, I'm Still NOt Smoking! My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 200 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,812 Amount Saved: $570 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 5 Mins: 18 Seconds: 57
