Day 8 and counting...

Hi there and welcome. Hold your Quit close and really protect it. When you have the anxiety attacks, breathe, dear one. Just take in a deep, full breath, hold it for 1-2-3 then exhale that old energy and stress. One step at a time, one foot in front of the other. I found so much support reading the old posts here... You will too. G Welcome back. You did a smart thing by staying in this weekend. You have got to protect your quit. I am glad to hear that the Wellbutrin is helping. I used the patch and it worked for me. Come here and post often. I found that reading the old posts helped a great deal. Work the program at the left and have a plan of attack ready for the cravings when they hit. Hang in there! Hi All Thanks for the support. I guess I just expected to throw away my cigarettes and go on with life. Never thought there would be so much turmoil once I threw them away. I've never had an anxiety attack...it's really scarie. However, the Wellbutrin really seems to be helping this time. I've also been using the gum when things get really bad. Day number 8 and I'm determined not to give in. For the first time in my life, I think I really do want to quit. Keep thinking back to my childhood when I started to smoke. My friend and I would steal her mother's cigarettes and smoke in the woods down by the river. I got so sick I couldn't move, but kept doing it. Her mother is no longer around...died of lung cancer. I keep trying to remember that when things get really bad. I don't want to end up like that. Letting a weed control your life ... what are we thinking? This is my second time here...Three weeks into my last quit I was having such bad anxiety attacks I started smoking again. This time I'm trying Wellbutrin and it seems to be a bit easier...Easier...not easy! This is day 8 for me. Like everyone else, I'm wondering if this will ever get easier. I stayed home most of the weekend and kept really busy. Had to stay away from my smoking friends. Had to pass on a couple of St. Paddy's Day parties because I knew I wouldn't make it without smoking. Slept a lot because it seems to be the only time I feel good. I've realy been feeling spacey....keep saying I'm having an Out-of-Body experience... Any words of wisdom sure would help after 30 years of being a smoker. Hi, I bumped up a couple of old post in the coping with withdrawl section that might help : Newbies day 1-8, days 8-15, and 15-30. If nothing else, they will help pass the time.
