hi....new guy here(rawker)

rawker, You are going to do fine. One moment at a time is the way you go through this. Try and distract yourself when you can. It can get to be alot of fun. I used to use a YOYO toy for distraction when I first quit. When ever I felt like I needed a smoke, I would go get it and just toss it up and down until I got tired of doing it. by that time the urge was gone, and I just went about normal things again. gave it up about the time I wore out the 2nd string. Still its on the top of the TV cabinet in case I go crazy some time. My hardest time was in the evening when I was getting ready for bed, I like to read, and I used to smoke alot then. So now I just go there and light a scented candle and breath deep a couple of times. I can do that anytime I want. Keep on doing what you are doing.. it's working. 5 months on

And there you have the truth. What it boils down to is ..No body knows for sure. But it doesn't ever get as bad as the first weeks unless you start up again. And if it does go on forever, then that is the price we will pay for having stayed with it for so long. I for one, am willing live with the cost, in order to be free. New Here as of today

Jessica and NSA, Good luck to both of you. It is possible to do this and stay sane and even have fun. You just need to remember not to schedule anything that is important to be done during the first 2 weeks. That is your most fragile time and you really need to protect it from loss. Try not to plan parties, big projects, or heavy changes for that time period. Keep thinking ahead and you will do fine. 24 days

Balloons for everyone. You are doing well. Its easy to see that you are beyond the physical addiction part of the quit and into the mental part. Keep fresh in your minds what you have been through and you won't make the mistake of taking any chances. As a 40 yr smoker myself (a pk a day) I congratulate you on breaking free. Nicodemon had a big hold on all of us. The only trick I can give you from here on is to remember that smoking effects were not worth the cost. No matter how pleasnt the cig, it is not worth the hiding, and the shame, and the feeling of failure that goes along with it. Keep going and you soon will be on the beach. By that time you are mostly on cruise control, and it is so worth it. Insanity......hiccup

Just one little word of advice for you. Nico may well return with the line that "it wasn't the cig that made you ill, it was because you had the flu" Try it again now and see. Don't bite for that one. that is a lie straight out of the pit. You can throw that out without any head thought at all. Quiting again!!!

Smenos, Your doing a great job, it your husband hasn't told you , we will. Don't forget to plan little rewards and treats for yourself. After all you would have blown all that money anyway. Why not get some good out of it. grief and loss

Glad to hear that you are making it. I know that the self hypnosis is hard to accomplish in the early days, but the more that you practice it the easier that it will become. Being relaxed is always a helpful thing. And 45 days quit already... I know that it seems like forever, but you are doing fine. Anything that keeps you from putting a cig in you mouth is an OK thing. Keep on Keeping on. Cheryl No Joking, I'm Still Not Smoking!
