I am lost in the thought..

Hi, I am having a tuff couple of days here for no reason at all. I just seem to be constantly fighting the idea of going back to smoking. I guess it started because I held a dinner party for some friends and I haven't done that since I quit, so it was ripe with a lot of reminders of smoking. I am not a person who finds entertaining easy. Any way I just have not been able to shake it off since then. I have worked my way through my coping techniques and have started on them a second time, but the idea is still around. You would think after all this time I would be better at this. So far I am not smoking, but the scales are going to hate me... Breathing now to keep the tears at bay. If this had happened in my first couple of weeks, I would be screaming out in the main forum, but I don't want to scare all the newbies. For the most part being quit is great. I think that I will go drwon me in the bathtub for awhile and see if that will get me past. Maybe I will turn out the lights and just listen to music. The anxiety is causing a BIG headache and I need to relax and get my mind back togeather again. Thanks for the room to vent. This is sooooo hard

Hey commit2me, All is not lost. You just had a practice run. Now you need to get onto the real thing. You need to find more coping mechinisms to get you through that first 24 hours. What did you do before going to the store? Did you try waiting 5 minutes and doing deep breathing? How about sipping on ice water? Get up and do some exercise? Clean the bathroom? You can do this just put off that smoke for 30 minutes.. you have done that before. Get your mind on something else. Here is an idea. Go make a batch of biscuits. You can play in the dough as long as you like and your hands will be to yucky to handle a smoke. Keep moving, you will make it. Smogfree Shamrocks 3/27

Look at you guys rack up those numbers! You are doing well, and it shows to those watching. I does start getting easier, and now you begin to enjoy all the things that you have been looking for. Breathing for one. Being able to walk, go to a movie without leaving in the middle or wanting it to hurry up. Go out to eat and take your time over a meal. These are only a few of the treats that you have in store. So keep moving, and keep on keeping on. Hello, new member here.

aerrin, I hope that your doctor gave you a prescription to go with the one week trial of welbutrin. I am glad to see that you are getting through this first week with staying busy. And that your family is being supportive of your efforts. Keep moving and just take one day at a time. Cheryl No Joking, I'm Still Not Smoking! Hey Everyone - Hello!

coben fan, It's nice to have you on line. Quitting smoking is a good thing, and the problems that you have in the beginning, are way out weighed by the benefits that you get in the end. Find a group of people with your same start date, or right around the same time and make a small support group inside this large on. you will have more fun and get more out of it. Good luck, Cheryl No Joking, I'm Still Not Smoking! My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 267 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,424 Amount Saved: $760.95 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 0 Mins: 7 Seconds: 16

Cheryl hits 9 Months

Thanks everyone. Its really nice to look in and see that we are all still at it hard. Not smoking takes a long time to get used to and I know that I haven't passed all the triggers yet. But still am determined to make it to not ever smoking again. This site and all the people old and new have been a tremendous help and brought me new friends. I am not sure that I would have made it without all of you. Cheryl No Joking, I'm Still Not Smoking!
