Day 1 of a long journey

It is so good that you have decieded to take this journey while you are still young and have so many beneifts that you can obtain from it. The first few days will be difficult, but keep yourself busy and don't try to do anything to complicated for now. Save all your extra caring for yourself. You need to get your feet under you first, before you can start giving to others again. Work out the program here on the site, even if you think some of the parts are silly and you don't need to do them. Do Them all! You may not need them now, but they are also there for the future. Good luck in you quit. We will be here for you. Second day

Good for you, you have made a great choice. Giving up on this addiction is one of the smartest moves a person can make. You just keep comming back and reading and reading. Don't forget to talk to us once in a while and tell us how things are going for you. And when you need help, You just yell out real loud. Cheryl

Retread.......................

Mrs. Payfer, While I extend to you my condolences on your choice to smoke, I also offer congratulation for getting right back at it. You know that each of us here will give to you all the help and support that we can from this end, but the choice always remains yours. As for why you crave more in your own home, could be many things. The privacy it offers, so know one will know what your do. The security that this is your place and you can do what you want. Or it could be as simple as the fact that the place smells like the remnents of your old habit. You may need to wash all the curtains, and fabreeze all the carpets and furniture. Maybe even a couple of times. Every one tells us that smells are the strongest triggers to memories that there are, and we have a lot of memories of smoking. Glad you are back with us, please don't go away again. quitting

Worm22, Now I know that the thought of quitting is scary, and that keeps a lot of people from jumping right in there and making the commitment to stop, but come on... to take yourself out of your nephews and nieces lives just so you can go on feeding a smoking habit. That is a bit much don't you think? To choose the costly pleasure of breathing in smoke and dirty air, to smell like a furnace, to be free to require a refreshing puff every hour or so. To be able to stand in the rain, snow, sunshine, wind. to be isolated from others. Not allowed to come within yards of the "nice" people because of paper and leaves. And to choose that over sweet lovely innocent children, who would give their love so freely. Who would worship you, and be so proud of you, who would make you their best friend, always being happy to see you.........even if you stayed away for a week at a time. No time is perfect, no methode is sure. But you won't know if you don't give it a try. I thought after almost 40 years that I would go to my grave a smoker. But look here, I am 7 months clean. And loving every minute of it. Cheryl Come on give it a try. Having a rough time.

Come on both of you. You can do it. You know that you just have to wait another 5 minutes. 5 lousey minutes. Turn on the radio and find a fun song. Sing along at the top of your voice. Music is magic. By the time its over. You are going to be so much better. You will have fought off another attack, you will be the winner. Greenette, what color are you going to be when you are done? Open some windows and breath deep. Arensmom, Go find some playdough to shape and mold with your hands. Or run and make some cookies. You can always freeze them if you don't want the calories around. You will make it. Just don't get in your car. Don't stop at a store, and don't buy a cig. Don't borrow one either. If you don't have one, you cant light up. If you can't light up, you don't smoke. Smile and go brush your teeth. Cheryl No Joking, I'm Still Not Smoking!

To all you BROWSERS

Nan, I wish that I could send to you a real bouquet of flowers that could be a part of your life for the next week to ten days. Although the news isn't all good, we both know that there are so many worse things that could be. So now we learn how to deal with what is there, and go on with the future we want to have. I am going to the store now and buy two carnations. One for me and one for you. I will look at them daily for the next week and remind myself that we are some of the lucky ones. And thank God for the help and love he sent to help us quit smoking. And for the strength he gives us to keep going. Nobody likes a sad Doctor

Thanks all for your messages of concern. Funny thing was not once did I ever think of smoking during the whole of the day. It did not even occur to me. Ice Cream however, and Chocolate Cake..now those were a different story. Settled for 5 Jr. Mints and a cup of milk. Have a glorious day everyone!
