You know what I started doing when I see a smoker? Instead of looking at them and their cigarettes in hand with this sad puppy look wishing this was me (like I did in the past), now I picture how the smoke is causing havoc on their internal organs. Might be a somewhat bizarre coping mechanism, but it works. At least for me! Stay strong! Gab

hello , Dreamer :) it is waiting real trial on weekend. you need to prepare for it now:imagine very well how it is gona be and how do you feel, and feel inside that will, that wish to seek your purpose, repeat to yourself everyday many times all the reasons of your quit and all good things. and do not compare yourself with others, who smike. sometimes they can seem happy when smoking or cool, but you made YOUR choice, and you know better what YOU NEED. and if you would ask , many of smokers would recognize, that inside they want to quit smoking too..:) i had gone through this few times, thats why i write it to you(i wa smike free for 3 years).but some hard problems in my life and i sliped. but i am sure that i will succeed this time, because for now my dependence is not so strong, like it was after 8 years of smoking. for me it is 4 day today, and weekend is coming with friends who smokes too:) so the words i said to you- i said it to myself too:) good luck to you, be strong;) muse

Just a quick point.....might be a good idea not to use your normal coping technique in front of the company............ But will leave it with you. Mad englishman

Your quit is a baby at the moment......a real baby would be at serious risk in the company of smokers and so is your quit. You must be determined. Thinking of you.... Whoa...did not read your newer posting. I am so proud of you and your friends for working with you on this. I hope they all were terribly inconvienced by having to smoke out side. Where did they put the butts. Remove all reminders. Yes, my congrats' was in order. Excuse me while I take my foot out of my mouth. You are brave indeed. After such a short duration, I would meet them in a common area (restaurant, etc). I would never have them smoking in my home...not at 3 days quit or ever. I trust and hope you weathered this OK. By the time I read it it was already past. Do not give in. The smokers will encourage you to smoke because you are making them look like second class citizens...which they are now in the eyes of the non-smokers. I hope my congrats' is warrantied. Dreamer Get prepared and use your coping mechanisms at all costs. Protect your quit and you will succeed. Make arrangements to have company smoke outside or the garage. It is your house and your rules :) If there are your friends, they will understand. Let us know how it goes. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
