Thank you all very much for the support, you have all made it a little easier already. I am currently using the lozenge which is the only thing that doesnt make me feel dizzy or nauseous. I also plan on altering our diet with better things to eat and exercise. I want to try to avoid the gaining weight thing. I really want to try to overhaul my lifestyle. Now I know where I can come when Im feeling like I need a boost. Thanks so much for the warm welcome and the opportunity to vent if I need to. JamieUS

Hi, I believe this will be the hardest thing I will ever have to do. I have 2 young children and I want to be around for them for a long time which is one of the reasons why I want to quit, one of many. I just dont like the feeling of aggravation I feel when I try to quit and being short tempered. I have failed in the past because I just hate getting upset with my kids and yelling a lot. My husband has never smoked so its hard for him to understand how difficult it is. I am determined to do it this time. Wish me luck. Thanks

Welcome JamieUS :) Taking slow deep breaths will help and almost make you feel like you still smoke. Let your kids help you and tell them what you are going through. If nothing else, maybe you will prevent them from ever smoking by showing them the agony of withdrawl. Best of luck to you, you can do it! Welcome aboard. It might be hard but it can be done, you also have a couple of the biggest reasons that I can think of for quitting (say hi for me). Read and post and go for long walks when you find you want to tear someone's head off. Drink plenty of fruit juice to sort the blood sugar levels out and keep that determination! Yell at us! we don't mind. Welcome to SSC; read reflections after not smoking. It is great. It does help so much to read these when you want a cigarette; no one understood in my family either. You can do this. You just have to really want to, more than anything; My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/5/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 745 Amount Saved: $185 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 17 Mins: 55 Seconds: 24

Jamie one of the secrets of success is to make this forum your safe haven. Whevever you are feeling, down, angry, tired, tempted, crazy or any other bad emotion you can come in here and tell us all about it. You see we've been down this road so we know what you are talking about. Just keep busy and work through the craves. This is an addiction and you will have withdrawal but you can make it. Keep your quit. vicki just 1 puff away from 2 packs a day My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 93 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,742 Amount Saved: $651 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 17 Mins: 25 Seconds: 54

Welcome Jamie, I think this is the hardest thing I have done too, but one of the most worthwhile things I have done too. I am so proud of myself sometimes I just feel like singing and telling the whole world I DID IT!!! Read and post here all you can. Be kind to yourself, pamper yourself, you need all the TLC you can give yourself right now. My husband never smoked either but in his own way he did support me 100%, mostly by leaving me alone and staying out of my way. You need to do this for YOU, because you are worth it!! Stick close here and post when you need help, someone will be here to help you. Congratulations Jaimie. I too believe that this was the hardest thing I have ever done. And you are soo right that people who have never been addicted, do not and cannot understand. No matter how much they love you and no matter how much they SAY they will be sopportive, when the chips are down, they usually are lacking. This is why this site made all the difference for most of us. Here I learned that I was an addict. Here I educated myself on the effects of nicotine and the realities of withdrawal. Here I got incredible advice and support each step of the way. Here, when I thought I was losing my mind, I realized I was not nuts - just an addict going through withdrawal. Yes this process is hard, but it is very possible. And at the other end is freedom that is so delicious and a pride that is unparalleled. It is your life that you are fighting for, and is the most important thing you could ever do for your future. GO FOR IT!! Hey, whats the big deal?????????? I tell you what is...you and your quit are. It is tolerable of intolerable right between your ears. The only reason God gave us this brain is so we could use it. Do it by learning all you can. When you get a craving flung on your, look at a pic of the kids if away from home. They deserve a smoke-free mom and you can provide that individual. Congrats' and lets do it together.
