D: have not seen my brother depressed or rarely down. His is more an upbeat mood and why isn't everybody else? He talks about how lucky he is to be doing exactly what he wants, etc. I don't think he has much empathy, he just moves on. Unfortunatley if you did that to him, he'd wonder why you don't care. Thanks for listening.
Hope you're not too bad after gardening. Not good day for me, taking it easy again.
Welcome Bonannie and jody03: you have come to the right place. Many of us went through the slow slogging it takes sometimes, but we saw the light at the end of the tunnel which showed us the rest of the way. CBT program here is one of the best and hope you stay and do the program and post as often as you wish. Someone is always here to respond. We're pretty friendly bunch.
Hi Shadowkins: When I had my surgery last summer my BP went very high because I was anxious. I ws already at the hospital. The doctor decided to give me an ativan to calm me before surgery. This was about an hour before. It calmed me enough so that by the time the prep was done I felt o.k. I also have mild asthma so they had to prep me for that too. Knowing this, that you can take an ativan before surgery, perhaps as Davit suggests it is a one day thing, you could have a talk with your doctor and ask if you could take something before you come in. Let him/her know how anxious you are. You are lucky you have your husband who will be with you afterwards. Have faith in him that he loves you and will take real good care of you.(positive thoughts about afterwards). I know, nobody likes, wants surgery, but sometimes we just gotta do it. Wish I could be there to hold your hand.
Hi Red: What wonderful news you have brought home to us. Congratulations. I'm truly happy for you and wish I could have seen the artisans at work too. Did you get any inspiration or ideas? Creating things with your own hands is one of the joys of life I think. Hope you reward yourself now. Way to go!
Hi Mickeylover2002: I know someone who was afraid of driving and followed Samantha's suggestions. Today she can drive just about anywhere, even busy traffic areas. Don't give up and hope you give it a try, Good luck.
Mickeylover: When I had trouble driving - feeling anxious and the negative thoughts really hammering away at me - I would sing any ol' songs I could think of. It didn't matter if I guessed half the words, just sing at the top of my voice. No one could hear and it was a great distraction. It forced me to take deep breaths. I breathe very shallow when I'm nervous and by singing I have to open up the lungs. It always got me from A to B, even though at the end of the trip I felt kind of wrung out sometimes. Hey, I did it! I won! and then rewarded myself with a nice cup of tea, a hot bubble bath, some "me" time. I didn't go in heavy traffic right away. I took the quiet roads at first even if it took a little longer to get there. Hope this suggestion can give you some ideas. The first few times, just sit in the car, have a coffee, listen to the radio. Do this a couple of days in a row. Then, start the engine, just drive up and down the driveway a couple of times. Do this a few days in a row. Next, just around the block, and so on. Let us know how it goes.
Good Morning everyone: Today when I awoke, I saw the sun just starting its golden glow over the cedar hedge in the backyard. Looking at it I felt a real peacefulness. It was just a split second, but I remembered that feeling. I wondered how long has it been since I last felt that. I'm hanging on to that lovely second, a promise of better things to come.
