Anerol:  Yes, I believe in a higher being.  People have many different names for it and I doubt if we can ever understand the whole picture.  Something much bigger out there than we mere mortals, some kind of creation, power, order.

Wrestler:  Happy for you that you had a good day.  Don't forget to reward yourself.  Posting does help, doesn't it?  It gets us to focus on the issue which is bothering us the most.  Like journalling does. I watched LOST last night too.

In the car and on the freeway.

Hi Anerol:   Speaking for myself, what I would do before trying anything which caused stress/anxiety is my relaxation and breathing exercises.  I swear by those two.  They are the things which have worked for me the best.  Let's say you know of a place you have to be in a few days and you are feeling stressed about how you will fare.  You mentioned enclosed spaces. Well, I'd do my breathing ex. first, then the relaxation ex. then visualize myself in that place.  How would I get there, what does it look like, the entrance, the room itself.  What would I do there, where would I sit, or stand.  Is there a ladies' room nearby?  I could go there for a "break".  and then I would visualize myself being successful and coming home again. I would also tell myself that it's o.k. to be nervous, a lot of people are nervous, that it doesn't mean I won't be successful.  And I used to make my car a safe place, that is, I knew I could relax in the car and do breathing, or something like that.  Oh, and have a reward for myself.  A nice hot shower, a cup of hot chocolate, herbal tea, a new book/magazine. just something. hope this gives you some ideas...

Accomplishments and other Postive Things

Red:  we will be thinking of you as you take another step towards your exposure work.  Good for you.  Today I went shopping all by myself for the first time since I've been sick - mostly just to see my strength - I was out a good three hours standing and walking and I did great.  I had one little little shaky moment when I felt dizzy but it passed.  I asked myself  "what would you do if you were at home?  and I thought "go and sit down for awhile".  so that's exactly what I planned to do, but the dizzies passed and I was fine.
In the past I might have had fearful/negative thoughts and started the panic cycle, instead I thought it through in a positive way. Maybe if you find a tough moment at the show, you can find your own quiet spot for a little break time.  Good luck

D:   I've never had problems with enclosed spaces so didn't think about the smallness or tight fit being a factor.  Good idea.

Exposure Session

Anerol, you are most welcome.  I 'm so happy to be of help.  As I posted - forget which post - I mentioned I thought I'd leave this site because anxiety level is not bad, but Davit thought that those who were successful in conquering and managing their anxiety and panic could be of service to others with what works for them. Sometimes I think I write too much.  oh well.

for no reason...

Welcome to this site moniq.  I agree with what Davit has written.  This CBT program is the best I think.  You have to be willing to study it and practice some of the relaxation and breathing exercises daily.  You will learn a lot about yourself and others too.  You will learn how your panic cycle starts, what kind of symptoms you have and how your thinking patterns affect it.  Hope you stay and try it.  Good luck and keep posting as often and as much as you want.  This is a safe, friendly place to do so.  There is always someone who is listening and will answer.
