Ya the holiday season is definitely going to be a hard one. I will be reuiniting with a bunch of my old high school friends. Most of which aren't even aware that I have stopped drinking altogether. Going out might be weird, I just don't want to have to explain my story to everyoneeeee you know? Anyway, let's stick together in this! We need to support each other and have each other's back!!
Thanks for that, I just read a few of Kitten's blog posts and your right it is very honest. I feeel like I can relate to soooo much of what she said in her blog it's scary. I want to quit for so many of the same reasons and have done many things that she has too. But I decided a few months back that I was done, DONE DONE! Thanks Kitten, your blog is inspiring! I hope you've been doing well lately and into this holiday season.
I'm glad you like my handle "rayoflight", I like it too! Also, I totally agree with you on feeling embarrassed to tell people that you are cutting down. Sometimes I try to think of excuses, (allergic, on medication) to tell people so that I don't have to simply say I'm cutting down because I can't control myself. But you know, your right i'd rather do that then be out of control and do embarassing things will intoxicated. I have prepared for the holidays and I will drink alternatives (those mocktails sound like a wicked idea). My boyfriend is very supportive, he appreciates me cutting down and thinks highly of me for doing so.
Hi Leanne,
This site is a great place to be. Know that it's been pointed out to you and you are aware make that change, make the difference!
I just read this now, very interesting about September.
Recovery has meant to be happy, healthy and proactive! I have worked so hard to regain the trust of others and show them that this time I mean business and I refuse to fall into my old ways. Recovery to me means a life change, a lifestyle change and a brighter future.
I post here when I can, I'm quite busy these days with school, exams and the holiday season approaching. Will do my best to check in as often as i can! So hello!
Sorry I just noticed that message now. I hate to hear that you are having a hard time. Please don't give in to that fantasy! Stay strong, do this for you and your family! You are worth it! Work through the program and stay focused! Get mad at the alcohol and tell it to never bug you again!
Welcome to the site! Your right, your goal is quite simple! It sounds like you are being realistic about this whole thing, cuttding down at reasonable pace is a good idea. Use the site, and post here often! It's great!
Welcome to the site, well you have taken the first step to making a change. You joined the site! Yes we are creatures of habit, but that doesn't mean that we can't change our habits. It does take time, effort, dedication and you need to want to change. Alcohol was really messing up my life, I let everyone around me down including myself. I had lots of guilt and shame for things that I had done and was just going in circles. So here you are! Dive in and make it happen! I support you 100%!
I loved this video Ashley! The music makes it that much more inspiring and photos are always so pleasant to look at. People of all different sizes, genders, races....etc It was really beautiful and it makes me want to be a better person and achieve more!
Note to self: find a motivational video to add to my profile! I will get on that!
