Setting SMART goals

Interesting, it's the first I hear of SMART goals. It makes a lot of sense, what value does a goal have if it's too vague. We need to set some guidelines for our goals so we can achieve them. I will think about my goals and share them once I have them figured out.

Music and your body

I listen to a lot of really relaxing music, like Norah Jones, A Fine Frenzy, Adele, Bon Iver. This type of music makes me feel mellow, happy, calm. Having said that, when I'm the mood dance, I like anything fast and catchy! Dancing is another stress relief and has also helped me stay sober. I am lucky to have a great boyfriend who dances with me in the living room, he's wonderful!

Alcoholic vs. binge drinker?

Tasha,

I think that binge drinker and alcoholic are pretty synonymous. I don't know about you but neither of these terms sound nice to me! I can tell you that from my personal experience, I would binge drink pretty much every weekend. My only hope was to eliminate alcohol altogether; however, down the road I may allow myself to have a drink here and there I still haven't decided. I can't tell you what to do or anything, but that's what I had to do to stop experiencing terrible weekends full of mistakes, tears, anger and so much more negativity. I nearly lost my boyfriend and several friends by being the way i was before. I am so much happier these days, I am proud of who I have become and I know that whats in the past is in the past. I know that my boyfriend has forgiven me, but noone forgets. And if I ever jeopardize things again, it will be my fault. So i choose to be sober...and you can too!

Here for you!

Feeling blah...

Leanne,

It is really hard to break the habit, but it is not impossible. Stay focused, keep yourself busy and find other ways of making yourself happy! How was up in the air? Getting out and doing things is really important! I know for me, all my friends ever do is "party" and drink, I had to find other things to do. Since quitting drinking I've started indoor rock climbing, hosting "themed" dinner parties and painting on canvas. Just a few ideas... let me know what interests you will take up!

Drinking dreams

Kelly,

I've totally had those dreams for sure! I have so many crazy dreams about drinking and other silly things! I always just remind myself that it was JUST a dream and get on with the day. Try not to dwell on it too much, you can't help what you dream of.

Daily healing

I had a GIRLS night this past weekend! AMAZING! It was so relaxing and rejuvenating to see my girlfriends and just talk and catch up on so much! I totally support and recommend a girls night for anyone needing a "healing" experience.

Health Educator Personalized Videos!

Hi Ashley,

I have looked at some of the personalized videos. Very cool I must say! I'm not really sure I feel comfortable with personalizing one for myself. But I fully encourage anyone else who is comfortable to do so!

Thanks!

3 months sober- Yay for me!

TOMORROW will be 5 months sober for me! Wahoo! Which means only one month away from 6 months. Half a year will be a great milestone for me!

Any ideas on how I should celebrate this in 1 month time? Obviously, not involving alcohol.
