Yes it will take some time to avoid having those feelings but it is really worth it! I've been sober for over a month now and I can honestly say I've never felt so good. I'm making new friends and my old friends are accepting that I am serious this time.
Good to meet you! Stay strong, one step at a time!
Welcome to the site, we are all in the same sorta boat here and we are here to support each other through this tough journey. Post anytime you have any questions and to share what you are going through. I can say from personal experience I have had some really shameful nights with my friends and boyfriend. I've done some really stupid things and said some mean things, i;ve lost friends and almost lost my boyfriend on several occasions. I finally realized one day that I was not ready to lose him, I'd rather be with him and never drink again. For now I choose to avoid alcohol altogether (one day i might be able to limit myself). In the beginning no one believed that I was serious, but now that I proved myself, my friends and boyfriend all support me and never ask why I'm drinking "virgin" ceasers or just soda. We can do this Lee!
I am working towards a healthier and happier lifestyle. I chose this path because the path I was on before was leading nowhere good. I've mended things with almost everyone around me and what keeps me going forward is the fact that I have made such good progress and I am so proud of myself. I refuse to go down that bad path again.
Thanks for the congrats! one month has been a crazy achievement for me, considering all my peers live for is partying on the weekends. My non-alcoholic drinks that i choose:
-Juice
-WATER WATER WATER (i'm a big water fan)
-chocolate milk
-Teas (with a bit of honey)
MMMM just talking about it is making me so thirsty!
Ok, so I know I'm way ahead of the game! The holiday seasons are not thatttt close. But in all fairness, they will be here before we know it. In fact it is already November 10th. There is only 6 weekends before "xmas". My concern is the holiday partying. I am just a few weekends away from my first "christmas party". I have been really good at stearing clear from alcohol so far, but the holiday season for me just has this sort of magic to it. How can I go to all my parties and stay distracted from the alcohol?
Sorry, I just heard a xmas commercial on the radio and it got me thinking....
You are right, there is no judging here Lee. We are all dealing with a similar devil, and we all know him a little too well. But luckily with each others support we learn how to say no and no thanks! Check in soon!
Just wondering where everyone has been lately? I'm still battling my urges with alcohol and I haven't heard much from all of you here. What have you been doing to stay sober? What have you been doing in your spare time? How have you gotten through tempting situations?
