Congratulations, Henny Penny, on 50 days of smoking freedom!!!! Awesome work. If you please, could you please lead me to the cruciferous buffet(plus I'll have the carrot juice if its on tap!!!!) Food has been tasting a little too good at the moment, and I really should think about shedding a pound or two. Ahhh, one of the side effects of quitting...an extra pound or two...or....whatever. But the way I look at it now is this...IF WE CAN STOP SMOKING, WE CAN DO ANYTHING!!!!!
Congrats on the quit,
Cheers,
Jan

Hi Brian, welcome aboard. You've made one of the best decisions you'll ever make. This addiction is well worth giving up. It DOES get easier with time, but in the beginning, iced water(thank you Llama!), snacks, deep breathing, walking...etc. will really help. I relied on CSI, Law and Order, House,...oh, how the list goes on! Hang in there.
Cheers,
Jan

I am really glad you've made it through the rough patch. I know how hard that was, but you're feeling better. You should feel REALLY proud of yourself right now. Your tenacity is showing. And here's to the nicodemon......POW...right in the kisser!!!!!! Keep movin' forward, Trooper, your stats are awesome.

This is such a one day at a time deal right now. I wake up each morning and decide I can make this a good day or a bad day. Sometimes I don't make the right choice and I feel miserable. And sometimes I can't help it. I try to accept those days for what they are. I'm VERY guilty of listening to that little voice in my head that says, "You've been quit nearly 4 months now...you should feel NORMAL...perhaps," that voice emphasises, "you're not trying hard enough."
And that all comes from my own mind. I'm really trying hard to tell that voice to get stuffed!!!! Its a slow process for me, but I think I'm making a bit of progress. I'm trying valiantly to accept the fact that this process may take a while.
So for now, I am who I am, and I need to accept and understand that.
Kelly, be good to yourself, you are a wonderful person and I'm glad you're here.
((((hugs))))

Tom, I really think this is an excellent post. I have changed since I quit smoking. My thought process is changing constantly, all for the better I like to think. I read every word and it made a lot of sense to me. I can look back at certain times that I smoked and remember them with fondness, perhaps for the situation and not the smokes themselves. I couldn't imagine myself smoking any more. It just doesn't fit. Doesn't mean its always easy right now, but its nice to know that smoking is no longer a part of my life. As Jim says..."Classic posts like this really allowed me to get to the point of no return!" That's where I think I am now. Great posts and great support!
Cheers,
Jan
