So, Kev - If my brain didn't necessarily function properly in the first place, will not smoking still correct that? HAHA! Oh so sad but oh so true. ;)
Thanks Traci! I'm glad things are going well for you and I absolutely appreciate your good thoughts! Two weeks for you tomorrow...you must feel spectacular!
Josie - The bouquet!? Really!? I don't know if I'm quite up for that. LOL.
Thanks so very much to all of you and for all of your support!!! I can not tell you enough how much it means to me to have this support system and how much it has helped me. You are all wonderful!
The wedding is in a few hours and should not be a problem. I'm tough and I really don't want to smoke. I really don't. How cool is that?!

Hi Kelly,
How did the wedding party go? Keep on practicing the 'No thanks, I don't smoke' and feel proud. It is a great achievement. Reinforcing that good feeling in your mind is a good thing to do. The brain funtioning thing is totally normal btw, its to do with carbon monoxide levels and the increase of oxygen in your bloodstream. Lots of good healing is already happening in your body.
Yay you!

Miss Kelly - how the heck are you? I feel close to you only because I am a newbie and you were the first REAL newbie I met after my quit. I am vacationing in Napa and drinking to excess but you have still been on my mind. Funny thing with this site, it keeps me real -- for me (of course) but also for those before me and after me who believe in me. If someone told me 3 weeks ago I would be able to fly to Cali and drink and eat with friends and NOT smoke I would never have believed it. I feel soooo free. I hope you feel the same! Keeping you in my thoughts -

Oh my god Kelly! You are a grandma? You are amazing, hey if you can pull off being a grandma, you won't have any trouble at that wedding you are a very strong person and now a NON-SMOKER, just keep telling yourself that and Josie is right, stay away from the smokers and dance your socks off!

Kelly,
Prepare for the danger! Have a bottle of water on hand and use this as a coping mechanism. Don't go where the smokers are and dance your socks off!

kelly,
sounds like you have some plans in place for dealing with the smokers at the wedding. not drinking alcohol is a very good idea, and you've given yourself an 'out'...to leave early if you have to. i'm sure you are going to be having so much fun that smoking won't even cross you mind, or if it does, it may last for 15 seconds like it did today. go and have a great time...you CAN do it!! i'll see you on day 7 as a non-smoker.

What a beautiful, young looking grandma you are. I'm so glad you are taking this step so you can be around for him and any others for a long time to come.
As for the party....can you tell one person who you can rely on to remind you that you are a non smoker should you be tempted to have that one puff? Also, maybe print out a list like the one Cindy posted the other day and take it with you. If you find yourself weakening, excuse yourself and go read it. You will feel so proud and powerful as you leave the party smoke-free...guaranteed! God for you for planning ahead, you non-smoker, you
