Double whammy

Hi Greger, How's your first day going? I relapsed for a short time but got back on Chantix to help with the crazy feelings. Are you using a nicotine replacement therapy or just diving in without? Just wondered, because I'm a real weenie - but - if I can do it, so can you:) Hang in there G! mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 45 Amount Saved: $11.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 14 Seconds: 4

Help? Slipping Game...

Oh Nebraska would be a great reward to meet you someday Sparky:) I'm just terrible at directions, so I'll have to depend on you for that when the time comes... My dad was a carpenter and built kitchen cabinets out of cherry wood for Bart Star when I was little. I remember his blonde hair and the smile on his wifes' face:) Neither of them smoked that I knew of:) John and Sue... You're precious. So... is steel stronger than aluminum?:) I also notice the cat lover and camera lover thingy here... We had an old one named Mac (Ms. McWilliams) forever... then one day she got so very small. Still completely dedicated to our family, but she deteriorated over time (yet never lost her beauty:) We cried too... then planted a little maple tree in our yard, in her memory. I often see her face when I think I want to light up. It prevents me from doing so... Hey, I saw an old guy (well, only 4 yrs. my senior) who is about 2 pickles short a quart in town. And he was lighting up at the grocery store tonight. I went over (since I see him on our block often) and said "hey! I'm Annie on the corner. Remember me? I did that too for 33 yrs., and quit for 2 months and relapsed for a few days and I still struggle with it, but I'm doing great today! How are you doing?" He told me again about his diabetes and his ailing legs, and showed me his scar from his heart surgery and said "I'm 50 yrs. old and looking for a nice girl friend who will just pay for my funeral someday" -- Gee, isn't that sad you guys? I'm not out to fix the world, but this is reality. So many of us - and so many not even able to pretend to be sane half the time... It's just as hard for the simple as it is for those of us who think we're not quite as simple... Well, someday I will tell Gordon more about the SSC:) Maybe next time he circles our block or gets off the bus and wants to haw at our back fence and tell me about his bad legs:) There are so many of us...... Well? Tomorrow is another day. The TV dinners and friendship was wonderful:) So glad neither of our friends ever smoked... but they're good friends. One is a terrific knitter and a first chair mandolin player in an orchestra. Her husband is the conductor. Music is a great outlet if the right spot is open for it:) Glad baby kitty is such a pro at 10. I think there are many ways to express ourselves without smoke... Still exploring mine... Goodnight buds... Help? Slipping Game...

Okay Unhooked, let's go to the freezer and make a new drink called the... Unromantic smoke... Nah... Let's put our tennis shoes on and hike up to... oh... Mississippi Street (have a Nano?) and we'll let the dog hop in the fountain at Jayhawk boulevard (even if it's not really legal) Turn around and jog downhill for a bit (feels strange but gets at several new muscles) and weird out a few youngsters if we buy cheap beers on the patio with a jack russel under the table -- on the way home... Sheek:) With me baby? (tomorrow:) mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 45 Amount Saved: $11.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 47 Seconds: 1

Seeing through your eyes,

Wow Stickin... I guess I gave us smoking because I love my family. I remain smoke free most times and in unusual ways. Sometimes it's easy when I share the benefits with my family or just pretend I'm like them, with no addiction problem... Sometimes it's just me that's awake and dealing with my addiction... So? I improvise. It's entertaining when it's not you. But when you improvise because you have to, it's real. No, no, NO! Then, I realize I can't inhale a full breath. Huge bummer. What if I quit this poison? Hmmm. Breath regained somewhat. Big cold beers might trigger me... Walks alone in the early morninglight might trigger me... it depends on where I am on this planet. Hey... but if I were "Stickin to it" on the SSC... and having some trouble -- I think I would read all this stuff - go to bed - and post in the morning (cough free:) well, it might take a few days - but? the cough and ickys will come. I promise... Write back for more truth and info... Love that quit, MK My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 45 Amount Saved: $11.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 51 Seconds: 24

Believe it, or not!

It helps me to think about the positive changes my body made because I choose not to smoke. When I had almost 2 months to feel my body heal before I slipped but got back to my quit (so glad I did!) I realize amazing things that are different. I used to have some weird red bumps behind my ears and close to my hairline. They didn't hurt but sometimes they'd itch and were annoying. After a few weeks of not smoking they went completely away! I thought it might be encouraging to start a thread so we can all share positive changes we experience from not smoking. It would be great to come back to for some inspiration when we need it:) The common ones are always good to hear, but weird and less commonly heard benefits are fun to read about too - so we can Believe it, or not!:) Thanks in advance! mamakitty My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $15.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 32 Seconds: 4

Reward ideas...

Sometimes it's hard to remember to reward ourselves for the progress in our quit. Sometimes it's tough to even think of rewards - especially in the early stages when it's hard to think, period!:) Any ideas to share so we can have a list to pull up if we need it? Here's one of mine: I've purchased and downloaded music to my Nano... and then went for a walk with it:) mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $15.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 32 Seconds: 51
