Congratulations "a few days late" Unhooked! I hope you have a good run today!! I'm thinking about doing the same thing (well, maybe walking and hopefully jogging) as I get back on track again tomorrow.
Love you, and admire you big... mk

H-e-e-eigh Mr. Ed! It doesn't take much to make the hens cackle on the farm. At least not this one:) Glad you stopped by.
Thanks to all of you for the support and encouragement. Alohakeia, I'll try to share a bit in case it helps anyone...
So far so good today! It's a little tough, but I'm very thankful that I didn't wait any longer to get back to my quit. It's frightening how fast my body swung back into smoke-mode even though I didn't smoke nearly as many as I used to. I could see how that could happen though... It was also scary to realize that I can't get a full breath again sometimes because of them. It's a panicky feeling. The cough and clearing my throat came back a little bit. When I smoked outdoors alone I noticed that I immediately went into "thoughtful mode" - where I'd light up, relax, and reflect or think deeply about something I was working on. I wondered if the cigarette was really satisfying me...
Well, I learned that cigarettes are NOT satisfying. They hurt my lungs, poison my body, trick me into wanting more, keep me away from my family, steal my time, hurt my self esteem, and prevent me from being able to enjoy exercise.
Today I woke up a little groggy (Chantix does that to me) but put on my walking shoes and took the dog for an hour long walk before the sun got too intense (102 today!) As I walked, I thought about how I could think more positive about my quit this time around. I've been too negative and rebellious in my self talk. I decided to just give myself permission to stop smoking and to feel joy about leaving cigarettes behind:)
This is quite a process for me, but I have great hope that I will succeed at quitting forever. I had doubts before, but that doubt is fading as experience, truth and acceptance push it aside.
Joyful, you can do it too. It starts one day at a time - and hey, I'm choosing to go to bed without one tonight:) Try it for one night, and then another...:) I wouldn't have even posted this topic if it weren't for you. I learned from reading your posts about slipping and the responses. I felt much the same, so am trying an attitude adjustment.
Sparky, thanks for sharing your relapse and puff stories with me. Makes me feel more normal about my own struggle... I guess it's kind of like learning to ride a bike. Takes a few tries. I sure hope someday I won't ever have to worry about fighting myself over this stuff anymore. Now, I'm feeling pretty determined and committed, and I promise to lean on you all when I need help.
Thanks for everything buddies:)
good night,
mamakitty

Thanks Alohakeia and Lady,
I promise to post a HELP note thread and wait for responses before I light up, if it ever gets that way again.
I feel lots of little tugs, but I can handle it today:) I think the Chantix helps take that edge off for me. Slight nausea and all... In fact, I think because I stopped taking it (before Paris) and didn't realize the anxiety I was feeling might also be a kind of withdrawal from that... I plan to gradually reduce my dose when I get off it. Of course, Chantix or not, I can still choose whether or not to light up. (That's the biggest bugger to tackle if it ever shows it's ugly face. But now, it'll have to answer to you too:)
Hey it's good to be back!

Lots of great support here...

Hi Aloha,
I took Chantix for 1 month before stopping because I felt like I could and didn't want the nausea on our trip with all that great food:) Nausea isn't terrible. Just for about an hour after I take it with lunch. I only take one a day... Two was too much.
I'm having some smoking thoughts... so I'm here reading. I'm trying to be creative with my thoughts. If the Nicodemon was kind of like a bad tele-sales person maybe that call might sound like this:
Nic: Hailo? Is this Mamakitty (mispronounce my last name badly here)
mk: Uh, yes. May I ask who is calling please?
Nic: Maam, I am here to tell you that you have just won a smoke in the back yard!
mk: get lost.
Nic: I will send your coupon by mail if you...
mk: click-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
How's that? Have I lost it?:)
Off to do something constructive:)
Thanks for checking in on me.

Hey, I don't feel so out of breath today. Do you? This is pretty cool:) Hope there's a bar at the top of this hill. I'll buy you a cold one:) Campus kids... you know:)
It's a steep hill, but let's make these "Buns of Steel!"

Hey PB... I'm just chiming in, even if I didn't read the whole thread right now, but I want to tell you that I understand the feelings of your last post about buying pizza and cooking and scrubbing and laundry and cleaning... Take a break from all of that and take a walk with yourself or do something special for just YOU... okay? I hope this helps and doesn't just sound stupid:) We're all on the same cruise...
gotta go,
hang in there,

Wow. This is like Christmas you guys! All these great messages to come to:) I had to stay off the 'puter much of today for errands and to replace my monitor. Sooo stressful I wanted to stop in the tobacco shop next to the computer repair place- but I didn't. I thought about your 5 response thing Unhooked, and didn't want to let you down:) I also tried to breathe my full breath on the way home so I could feel proud that my body could still do that.
Dang Sparky!! How cool is it that we live in the same city?!! This is like winning a game show or something! I can't get my IM to work so I can talk with you, but I'll head up 11th Street and meet you at the street by the stadium (where 11th jogs off to the right) and wait for you at 7am on Sunday if you're able. Later is okay too if that's better. Since the rain, we could go later before it gets too steamy...
Gotta run again - Family duty calls (but it sounds fun tonight) We are usually health nuts but papa kitty and baby kitty came home with TV dinners and potato chips! Guess it's time for an evening of blast from the past:) We meet with Star Trek friends and watch old episodes each week. We take turns hosting dinner... our guests will be surprised:)
I'm soooo happy I made it another day even though I really wanted to stop and buy a pack, toss 18 and smoke 2.
Love you guys...
mk
PS Joyful, I love your new pic! You're so pretty... Hope all is going well for you too. I'm sorry I don't have time to cruise posts more right now, but I'll be back...

Hi Boldinaz,
I just wanted to let you know that I experienced similar things earlier in my quit and it lasted awhile. Weird body changes. Hot throat, tight chest and other things that were really my body healing for many weeks. Unfortunately, I had a relapse, but it's a good thing it wasn't for long. I took a few days to smoke as much as I wanted and found that I couldn't get a full breath anymore. Just scary, stupid, experience... My lungs feel questionable too at times, but I did see my doctor and keep fairly close contact with my Chantix prescription stuff etc... I guess I'd like to encourage you to see your Dr. anyway - just to rule out cancer. I know it's a nasty word, but if you can swing it - I'd ask for some testing just to ease your mind ---- and then get on with your journey to the new Boldinaz!:)
Hang tight...
