Well, I must admit that I'm not a huge Rock fan, but my husband is. I've been to I don't know how many Motley Crue concerts with him. There is a not well known song titles "Enslaved".
Lyrics:
alright alright this life is what you make it.
don't slide... you can't compromise
you click your heels 3 times imagination goes wild..
you can't analyze
so be sure that you are makin the best of what you have
the truth is all within yourself
don't be a slave.. a slave to someone else
higher higher it's where we want to be in our minds..
it will mesmerize
it" pleasure power that's what we devour...
you can have it crystallize
now it's time to look at what you've done with your life
and the path you found and followed in
yourself i won't be a slave.. a slave to anyone
the question is
when it's all done
who will stand
and who will run
the answer is on my tongue
i won't be a slave to anyone
so be sure that you are making the best of what you have
the truth is all within yourself
don't be a slave... a slave to someone else

Hi Pat,
I hope you are doing better. If you're still having problems, try taking a few deep breaths, breathing slowly in and out. This helps me overcome the craves. Sunflower seeds really helped me out in a pinch the other night. I was able to keep my hands and mouth busy for a few hours.
Just a fewideas:
Pro's
Live longer
smell better
feel better
spend more time with loved ones
look better
reduced coughing
sleep better
Con's
a few moments satisfying an urge that will come back
it will take your life from you prematurely
Another thought Pat that I had considered earlier this evening is to find a hobby that you enjoy. Earlier this evening, I thought to myself that I might take a couple of painting classes at a local craft store. I've always wanted to do this and think I would enjoy it. Now I have more time available to develop an interest in something more productive that smoking. Just my 2 cents....
Hang inthere,

Misha,
I know how hard this is right now. Many of us have all felt the same way. It is worth it, and it does get better. If your coping strategies aren't working well (raw mouth from candy and sunflower seeds), try some different ones. A couple of suggestions are sipping ice cold water and deep breathing. A nice shower is also sometimes very soothing. Misha, make sure you are taking very good care of yourself.
Come back to the site and read and post as much as possible. This has been very helpful for me.
Hang in there....it is worth it!

Welcome to SSC Shakes! WOW! 31 days on that quit meter are looking fantastic. My husband and I quit about a week before you and we are also using Chantix. There are some posts that talk about stopping Chantix if you browse through the board. My husband's doctor participated in the studies for Chantix. Last week, he told my husband that he recommended taking the medication for a full six months and that statistically, patients were more successful if they took the full six months. But then again, every person is unique and you should consult with your own doctor.
Don't be shy Shakes....we're all in the same situation here. I personally do more reading than posting, but do what works best for you.
Again Congrats on your smoke free month!!
