Pat, what Lookingglass said.
There is no reason to go back.
There are so many other ways to get the "contentment" we seek. Addicts keep repeating that lie to themselves that only cigarettes can bring them happiness and peace. There is a hole in our hearts that we can fill in other ways...but the trick is finding out what it is that keeps making us dig that hole. Love you, friend. That's right we do care. We know what you're going through better than anyone! :) Day 150, day 70, day 40 or day 3 - they can all have the worst ever craves and pangs. We know how hard it is and would like to help, Pat. Pat, there are no benefits to smoking. There are just detriments and lies. If you want to go back to smoking, that's your choice to make. But if you do, don't tell yourself that the smoking will give you something worthwhile, because it won't. Tell yourself, "Smoking will destroy my life, and that is what I'm returning to; my own destruction" What do you have to weigh? Your enslavement and destruction vs. your freedom and a longer, healthier life? What about the example you set for those you love? You were never intended to smoke. Your body and mind weren't made for that. There is no reason to go back. There was no reason to become a smoker in the first place, but now you know better. You can do this. You can turn it around. The pain of adjustment won't last. You've come this far, so now go the rest of the way. We're here. Hello Pat. It's nice to see you again. :) Please let us all know how you are doing? and what we can do to help? I sometimes wonder if the trade offs are worth it, too. Es[ecially the weight gain issue!! But, in my heart of hearts...I KNOW IT's WORTH IT! Putting asise all the other blessings from quitting...I don't worry as I'm falling asleep if I'll wake up again. After my lung collapsed that was a real fear of mine. I kinda like breathing! Don't you?
