Kita,
Sorry to hear about your stressful situation. I also have a family member in prison (a brother-30 yrs. old). Kita, your son is a grown man and responsible for his own actions. You did nothing to cause this to happen to him. His basic needs are being taken care of. I suggest that you need to take care of yourself first, and then do what you can for him if you are able.
You made a great choice in coming here to vent. You just take some deep breaths and hold on. Chew some gum, drink some water, or whatever it takes to get you through this. You can do it!

What a wonderful way to celebrate everyone's amazing accomplishments! Congrats to all!
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all members here at SSC. I'm not able to post much, but the support and encouragement I've received here have helped me tremendously.
NOW.....let's party!! I'm headed toward the buffet to get a snack and a nice tall glass of bubbly!

Hi Misha,
Welcome to SSC. Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking. I know right now it's very difficult. I PROMISE, it gets much, much, better. If you haven't already, try working through the program on the left of this page. It is very helpful. Try some different coping techniques to help you through these difficult first few days.
A few suggestions:
Drinking cold water
Deep breathing
Plenty of rest
Sugar free gum or candy
sunflower seeds
fruit juice
The feeling of not being able to concentrate is also a normal withdrawal symptom. It does get better in short order. MOST of all Misha, take very good care of yourself during this time. Come back here often, read, post, and ask as many questions as you like.
You can do this,

Misha,
You are going through what is referred to here at SSC as "Hell week". I promise, it does get so much better. Just hang in there and tough it out. I think for most, the first three days are the worst. You will begin to feel some relief very soon. Drink some cold water, do some breathing exercises, and DONT give up. I know you can do it.
