acne?

I noticed it a little worse than usual too...had a big one on the back of my neck, then when it went away I got its twin on the other side of my neck. I've also got more across the shoulders and (gasp) backne!!! I'm in a wedding in less than 2 months...hope it clears up by then! Between that and the industrial strength undergarments I'll need so as not to test the seams of my dress (yup, put on a couple pounds, too), I'm a hot mess. Definitely not alone on the acne thing, but I never would have thought I could attribute it to quitting smoking! ~Nursey My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 651 Amount Saved: $193.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 2 Mins: 8 Seconds: 56

Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

I know, I'm out of turn, but it's ok, right? I sit here and read posts and I get nervous...am I gonna crave again? Am I gonna stay strong? Sitting here thinking that way makes me crave more... just think about the reasons I quit, just think about the reasons I quit. I'll just have to keep repeating it to myself. I quit for some darn good reasons! Anyway, getting ready to get ready for the night...I will check in tomorrow with the smoke-free report! Take care all, ~nurse My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 731 Amount Saved: $216 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 11 Mins: 16 Seconds: 43

The Magic Ship- Board Here!

I, too, laughed at the "Save Bubba" reference. MomMom and her sweetheart, I can tell you, catch and release on their fishing trips. Don't think MomMom would know how to "clean" a fish if her life depended on it...and if she's looked a fish in the eyes, I don't think she'd want to eat it anyway! The nurse is suffering from some ill health this week. Humidity has been non-existent this week, so pollen counts are off the charts. I'm trying to get used to planning my activities around the weather and it stinks. I've also developed a nasty cough this week, I think it could be related to the advair my allergist has me taking now. As I sit here short of breath, smoking is the last thing on my mind! Anyway, hubby too is still smoke free, and he has finally hooked up our internet! Yayyyy!!! It's good to be back! I promise to try to get on here daily and say a personalized hello to everyone. Notice I did say 'try'! Keep kicking ash!!! ~Nursey My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 38 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 571 Amount Saved: $171 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 17 Mins: 0 Seconds: 10

Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

Wow, I've completely neglected this thread! Finally back online, and hubby and I are still smoke-free (though I think his meter is a few days off 'cause he slipped)!! We still have moments when we're out shooting pool in our league that each of us has a craving, but since I'm concentrating on my lungs' health there's no way I'm starting over again! When hubby used to turn to me and say he was about to bum a smoke, this used to cause fights. Now, he tells me he's craving, and we've gotten somewhat more comfortable...my standard answer is "I know, I am too". Being princess of the guilt trip (the queen knows who she is), I sometimes add "but if you smoke, then you're going to make it so I want to smoke, and then you'll be responsible for ruining both our quits!" This usually does the trick. That and the fact he's on the wellbutrin, and the fact that smokers really stink now. Literally! I tried to put on a sweatshirt the next day after being out at the bar and I just couldn't wear it because it stunk so bad. I can't believe I lived with my clothes reeking like that! Anyway, to sort of "treat" myself for quitting, I started making all those doctors' appointments that I knew I couldn't as a smoker. I'm now getting treated for my allergies...which seem WAY worse since I've quit, but will eventually get better with treatment. Funny I call getting 4 shots once a week a "treat", especially when I feel like hell, but it is. Maybe I'm a bit masochistic like that :) Anyway, keep it up fellow Feb-ers. We rock!!! ~Carolyn My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 606 Amount Saved: $180 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 21 Mins: 2 Seconds: 9

The Magic Ship- Board Here!

Wow, Captain, you read my mind. The mods were nice enough to send me the replies to my deleted post...though I hear through the grapevine that some replies were chopped before I got them. I, too, have contemplated jumping overboard on this thread, but stay because of the wonderful people I have met here. So as not to bore everyone with a repeat of the details, I will say this. The feelings I mentioned in my notorious 'deleted' post will NEVER cause me to pick up a cigarette. If anything, they are even more motivation to keep me away from them. Quitting smoking is just a step in the journey toward my ultimate goal. Anyway, I must say that my opinion has somewhat soured on this site as a result of my deleted post. I can understand edits so as not to give out medical advice, but yesterday I was distraught and needing to vent to people that I knew would listen. The way I understand it, some of the replies were first edited, and then the whole conversation got WHACKED right off the page. Just as most of this post probably will. I found that to be not only insensitive, but also potentially counter-productive if I had fallen off the magic ship as a result. But anyway, thanks to those of you who replied to my post. You know who you are, and I truly appreciate your taking the time to share your stories with me...and I know it couldn't have been easy for some. ~Carolyn My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 606 Amount Saved: $180 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 21 Mins: 3 Seconds: 46

The Magic Ship- Board Here!

Ahoy, shipmates!! I'm sorry I've been a bad nurse and not posted for a while. The good news is, hubby and I are BOTH smoke-free! The move went well, though I'm still waiting on hubby to set up internet (currently at MomMom's), but I have to give him a lot of credit. He's working a lot of hours, and he still isn't smoking. By a lot, I mean his 10-6 job has him getting home sometimes at midnight! Anyway, hopefully he will get the 'net set up at home soon, so I can post more often and check in with everybody! Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin" floating through my head. Hey, has anyone seen him on TV lately? He absolutely frightened me at the Grammys...he never blinked! I'd have to say he had some plastic surgery gone bad...wondering if anyone else agrees with me. Everybody Cruise on, I'll check in again soon! ~Nursey My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 32 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 493 Amount Saved: $144 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 8 Mins: 13 Seconds: 22

We're here, and we're FEB-U-LOUS!!!

I thought of everybody last night while I was at pool league, and how wonderful everyone is for checking in with me before pool nights. As soon as I walked in the door I started having 'nic fits'. Didn't help when hubby asked our friend for a smoke. Though I said I'd let it go for now, I still told him I thought he was weak. I then talked to a friend who is also a former smoker (quit almost a year ago!) and told him I needed his support. He talked me through my craving and said all the things I needed to hear to keep that cigarette out of my mouth! His situation is similar...he and his wife quit at the same time, only he stuck to it when she didn't. Anyway, have to get to work soon (stopping at tanning salon first, I know...I'm so vain) :) Have a good night all! We're here, and we're FEB-U-LOUS!!!

Well, I must admit, all this vanity stuff isn't exactly for me...I'm in a wedding June 2nd and I refuse to be ms. pale. But a mani/pedi was already in the works for that anyway! Thanks for the support...as always! We're here, and we're FEB-U-LOUS!!!

Wow, you guys are great! Remembering my Wednesday night pool nights...you truly are Febulous! I'm feeling fine about pool. I've been feeling sick the last week or so, and I'm finally starting to feel better...I'm convinced it's because I haven't been hanging in smoky places. So, while I'm excited to see my friends tonight and have a couple drinks and relax for a little, I have NO plans to smoke! Besides that, I got my food order from the weight-loss place, so my 'healthy mode' has been renewed. I may not even drink any alcohol tonight, either! You guys are the best...thanks for thinking of me!!! ~Nursey My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 62 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 941 Amount Saved: $279 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 11 Mins: 14 Seconds: 52
