Got through pool night smoke-free. Hubby did not. Told him I stopped caring about his quit (though everyone knows this is false). Explained my upset with the fact that I heeded his "I'm ready to quit whenever you are" call and he did not. Loud fight in car ensued. Hubby under stress. Decided I should be more supportive, everything fine now.
That's as concise as I can be. Have a great (smoke-free) day everyone!

I got my shipment as I was on my way out to work Tuesday night. Started eating it yesterday. I must say, it doesn't taste too bad (had an AWESOME strawberry shortcake bar!). I can already see that my problem is going to be one of eating more things than I'm supposed to. I had a breakfast before I went to bed yesterday morning, had a lunch when I woke up, then a snack, then that shortcake bar, no dinner....you can see what I mean. Anyway, I have every intention of getting out there and walking around my complex either today or tomorrow. I don't own a scale, so I'll have to wait until work to weigh in.

The program I started said, basically, the idea is portion control. Seems to me it says WHAT you eat isn't as important as HOW MUCH of it. You can still go out to eat, but take your time and enjoy the experience (not having to cook it...not having to clean it up!) and listen to your body saying it is full rather than letting an empty plate dictate the end of your meal. They suggest things like asking for the doggie bag when they bring your dinner, put your fork down between bites, etc. etc. They also say try to be the last one to finish (never a problem for me because I'm a slow eater anyway)--so you're not sitting there looking at your leftovers and picking at them more.
I find that not owning a scale is probably a good thing, then I don't obsess about my weight. But I, too, have had days where I've thought I'd rather be an addict than be overweight. But I've come this far...I'm not going to blow that all away in a puff of cancer.
This is a good thread for me, we all quit roughly the same time, and we all started with our weight loss plans around the same time. Let's all lean on each other

Legend, you and your brown rice are really cracking me up. Good way of looking at things I guess.
I should explain that hubby only smokes when we go out for pool night or are otherwise drinking with other smokers. He doesn't buy cigarettes or anything like that. I just feel like if he can be a non-smoker 5-6 days a week, why not 7? It's not like he's hiding in back alleys and corners all the time sneaking smokes (although that's a funny visual!).
Can I call it a dinner party now? Not only is MomMom coming, but my mom-in-law and her boyfriend are coming too. I'm making chicken parm (I'm going to try to cut calories somewhere--kind of have to since MIL is bringing cheesecake!!!). MIL is a smoker, so I guess I'll have to put a bucket on the patio and hope her son doesn't follow her out the door...
I wish everyone a happy Friday...it's dismal here.

Keep up the good work and continue being a role model for the rest of us!!!

I've decided...I've become one of those people that needs somebody to be mad at--at all times. Currently not mad at hubby (too busy being too mad at someone else).
What you said really grabbed me, Legend. Finding his legs and not spinning his wheels and stuff. But at this point, I'm willing to let it go because he's got way too much stress at his job. I know how I feel about my nights out as a way to de-stress. If, for the moment, going out one night a week blowing off steam by having a couple cigarettes while we're out makes him feel better, I'm ok with that...FOR NOW. One thing at a time. Once he gets out of his miserable job, then we'll work on staying smoke-free. I need to be more supportive of him overall and try to take away some of his stress rather than add to it.
I know, I know...who am I and what have I done with Nursey? :)

I saw the sun today too for a while.
Glad everyone is staying smoke free. For those who are interested, hubby and I are contemplating skipping pool night tonight...so long as the team wouldn't have to forfeit because of our absence. I already know I would've been ok anyway ;)
Everyone have a great day today! I'm getting to sleep soon (I hope). Had a rough shift at work, and I can't determine if this is allergies or cold, but it stinks!!! Later on all~

Hey Jan,
What a coincidence. Just today I ordered from a place that ships you pre-packaged meals that require next to no prep! I did it for myself and for hubby (it was my idea, but I got his permission before I ordered for him). He and I don't get to sit together for a whole lot of meals anyway, so at least this way we can eat 'healthy-er' than we are without a lot of hassle. I don't believe I've put on more than a couple pounds, but I went trying on swimsuits yesterday...boy what a reality check (I had a few extra to lose before we quit)!!! We go on vacation in like 6 weeks, and I'd like not to be embarrassed to walk on the beach in a suit!
So, long story short, we're right with ya over here! Keep us posted!

Can always count on MomMom to brag for me.
Thanks everyone for all your support...as always, it has been critical to my success.
I've had some rough days at work--so much so that I went to the bar Sunday night after working my weekend of days. Have to say thank goodness for allergies making me feel crappy, otherwise I probably would have loved to sit back and suck down some cancer.
Trying to get the bod bikini-ready...think I'm going to treat myself to some tanning time and a teeth whitening treatment. That paired with the new diet (coming soon LOL) should get me there pronto!
Thanks again everyone...you all rock!

Funny how my big sis was always my role model for everything, yet for this one, she took the lead from us.
Guess I better stop talking trash about her now, in case she decides to stop by LOL!
MomMom, stop beating yourself up about being the reason we ever picked up a cigarette. Ultimately, we made the decision our own selves, for whatever crazy reason (probably peer pressure). Let it go...
Anyway, I don't know that I foresee my big sister coming here. Something about seeking support from strangers just doesn't seem to be her thing. But we love her anyway.
Ok, will stop by again soon. Take care people!
