Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

Haven't talked to big sis to know. I'm going to cruise over and read that post MomMom suggested by Joe Cool. Oh, for the record, our pool session is now in playoffs. In the individual standings for regular season, guess who came in 4th out of like 75 players in the division?!?! That's men AND women, folks! YEAH!!!! So, it appears that smoking was definitely NOT part of my winning strategy. I won 8 out of 10 matches I played, and hubby's percentage wasn't too far behind. Sorry, just had to brag a little bit ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,094 Amount Saved: $324 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 4 Mins: 35 Seconds: 34

Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

It's playoff night, and it's only 1:30 in the afternoon and I'm already craving a cig. What is wrong with me?! I'm not going to do it, in fact, I don't even think I want to stay at pool long, because I talked to a doctor at the hospital the other night and he seems to think that my waking up short of breath has everything to do with being in smoky places. When I was a smoker, I used to get all bothered by 'uppity' non-smokers who would give me a look or an attitude about my smoking in front of them. Now that I'm on the other side of the table, I agree with them. I try not to get an attitude, but these smokers who make no attempt to keep their smoke away from me don't have to wake up with me in the middle of the night and dive for an inhaler. I can't believe it, but with as bad as my symptoms can get, I'm actually contemplating leaving the pool league...or at least moving to a region that is smoke-free in the bars. I've been shooting since I was 21. I met my husband because of pool league. This is a very difficult decision for me, and it bugs the s*&t out of me to have to change my lifestyle to such a degree just to feel healthy. But, it's starting to get to the point where I don't look forward to pool nights as much as I once did because I know I'm going to pay for the exposure to smoke later. I can't believe those words just left my fingers! By the way, Tutti, I'm glad your daughter is getting better news. It's a shame she has to deal with such things at only 13 weeks! I hope the rest of her pregnancy goes smoothly! Good job staying smoke-free through all of this stress! Stay quit, all! Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

I had another BIG trigger at work the other night. It was a very bad night and, long story short, I was in tears. Not that it happens often, but normally, if I became overwhelmed by my moods I would just go outside and smoke, take deep breaths and relax my emotions away. Someone offered to take me out for a smoke and I whined "but I don't smoke anymore!" and worked myself through it. I wound up washing my face, deep breathing and eventually just working my way through it, and ultimately it never escaped my attention that I got through it without smoking. Fortunately, I'm now off for 3 days and I can regroup. Hope all the mothers had a great weekend. I will let you all know about pool night this week!! ~Carolyn My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 81 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,227 Amount Saved: $364.5 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 19 Mins: 45 Seconds: 36

Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

Legend, that is a pretty powerful story. I kept the lighters I've found in my purses and things since I quit...so I can light fragrant candles in my apartment and keep it smelling nice :) Anyway, just wanted to check in and say hi and wish everyone a wonderful weekend. I'm cooking for MomMom tomorrow, so I guess I better go buy the freshest ingredients possible...oh, yeah, and CLEAN MY ROOM!!! LOL don't want to get grounded :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 64 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 968 Amount Saved: $288 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 14 Mins: 12 Seconds: 19

Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

Legend really amuses me.... Nurse29Husband IS on the SSC, he just doesn't use it. I think he's afraid to show his face 'round these parts after all the trash I've talked about him. At any rate, I did skip pool Wednesday night. Was too tired and didn't feel like dealing with smoke-filled bar. He apparently had one while he was there. But he'd gotten a speeding ticket, so he was 'frustrated'. Excuses, excuses if you ask me. Anyway, with his blessing, I went onto a website today and ordered 5 weeks supply of prepackaged foods for both of us. I could afford to lose like 20 pounds or so, and he could stand to drop like 50. We both want to lose the weight, but for right now we can't hit the gym like we want. Surprisingly, I've only gained like 5 pounds since I quit, but I could afford to lose a few extra (just to gain it all back when we get pregnant!!). Anyway, so that's what's new with us. I ordered diet foods today, and we've got 8:30 reservations at the steak house tonight! Gotta get it out of our system somehow! Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend...I'll be working days for a change so I probably won't be back here until next week. See you all then! ~nursey My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 57 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 866 Amount Saved: $256.5 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 2 Mins: 35 Seconds: 13

Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

Hey all, It must be a lack of sleep that brings out the cravings...I'm a crabby mess and I'm dying for a smoke right now, but instead I am here. Hubby went out after work with the boys and apparently had a couple beers AND smokes. I truly have no patience for this behavior...I feel he's weak and simply not fighting hard enough. I'm not this critical on anyone else for some reason, only him. He keeps using his stressful job as his excuse, and it really gets under my skin. Does he think my job isn't stressful? Does he not remember that I'm doing this quit without the benefit of mood-enhancing drugs or other things? And he's got (well, ok, HAD) Wellbutrin to help him through it and still smoking? Arrrrggghhhh I'm ready to kill him. I have become more of a control freak than I ever thought possible. With people with eating disorders, they say it becomes more about control than about food...maybe this quitting smoking has brought out that inner control freak. MomMom...I've never been a control freak, have I? Am I turning into another version of my big sister??? Ok, having vented, I feel the urge has mostly passed. Now I must go on and get some work done. Good day all...by the time you read this I will hopefully be sleeping!!! ~nursey My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 51 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 768 Amount Saved: $229.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 15 Mins: 26 Seconds: 2

Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

54 and going strong...save for that little slip we discussed earlier (sorry, but I can't just let it go...I feel I have to remember it). Trying to let go of my husband's quit. I'll just have to lay down the rules that he cannot smoke in my presence, and no way is he ever going to smoke in our home (he never would, anyway). I'll sort of have to adapt a don't ask/don't tell policy in order to maintain my sanity...but I know I'll ask anyway. And in my presence means anytime we are out together, not just while he's in my line of sight. What aggravates me the most is that he was the one who said "anytime you are ready quit I'm ready". So I decided I was ready not just for myself, but also for him a little bit. And he's not holding up his end. Anyway, like I said, I'll lay down the ground rules and will bite my lip when he slips (at least I'll try). Thanks for the support everyone.
