As for the name of our group, I can say my mom and I quit on Valentines day (other than my relapse, hence the date change) because it was a day of love, blah blah blah LOL. So why not name us something to do with Valentines Day? Or, there's also Presidents' Day, and even the start of Lent (although that's a religious event and therefore not appropriate for everyone?).
I'm sure I'll find out eventually what kind of name we're getting!

ok I would do roll call, but I think my role is fairly obvious.
Wanted to update you all on the allergist visit...I'll take allergies for $200 Alex.

--What are the only 2 things Nurse 29 is NOT allergic to?
DING DING DING
I'm allergic to pretty much everything. I'm an excellent candidate for allergy shots. However, because I'm so allergic to everything, I'll need 2 separate shots at a time. I'm also getting a couple inhalers, and some other stuff. He suggested an air cleaner with HEPA filter, mattress covers and what not. Hubby really should be cleaning the cat litter and vacuuming...often.
So, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the information I was given yesterday. Maybe I really should move to the beach!
Anyway, so here's my outlook on the whole thing...I felt like a hypocrite making doctor's appointments for these things while I was smoking. Like I should take care of myself before letting a doctor fix what's truly wrong with me. So, by making this appointment, I was rewarding myself for quitting smoking. At the same time, I'm giving myself the motivation to stay quit. So, there's my story just so all of you know.
Hope everyone is enjoying the cruise!!!
I'll check in again soon...

Congrats mrmagic! I'll nurse the hangovers, everyone...but I can't do anything about any blindness resulting from overexposure to speedos!
I'll take a purple boa, thank you! Now let's all raise our glasses to the captain who has been an inspiration!!!

Hey,
So I'm past 2 months into my quit. Last night and this morning, I woke up gasping for air and had to hit my inhaler (I think it was 3 times I woke up). I had spent some time yesterday in a smoky bar. I wondered if being in that bar for a couple hours would do it?
However, it also happens when I eat meals. I've gained a few pounds since I quit, but nothing earth-shattering.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had these same symptoms since they quit smoking (oh by the way, my lungs were bad before this anyway...I've carried an inhaler for years).

I agree...8,000 cigarettes not smoked. Could you picture that pile of butts that you would have smoked?! Astounding! Congratulations on all that life you gained, and on your shopping spree (hmmm, that's what I need! :) )!
You deserve to be proud...or, as the song my computer is playing says: "You can't touch this!"
Keep up the good work.

thank you everyone...your support has been crucial in my success.
Oh, and Phil, you can't be a babycakes unless you're a long-lost brother I don't know about. In which case--MomMom, you got some 'splainin to do!!!
I'm sleepless today. I have to wake up in like 4 hours for a 12 hour night shift. Grrrrrr. No smoking, however.
We're planning a vacation for June, and that's a good enough reward for me right now. Though a nice dinner out would be good too :)

Tutti, I'm glad things are looking better for your daughter. I hope things continue to get better for you. Good that she's with you, that will help to keep you smoke-free I'm sure!
Still smoke-free here, too. Happy Thursday to all.
