Some Ways to Reduce your Stress
Some Ways to Reduce Your Stress

Exercise - even 5 or 10 minutes can help
Journal your thoughts and feelings
Listen to music
Call a friend or family member
Be optimistic - think positively
Keep your sense of humour - laughing can help, act silly
Breathe deeply
Soak in the bathtub
Light some candles
Know your priorities - learn to say no
Anticipate stressors - many things that cause us stress we know are coming (i.e. exams), develop a plan of action before they happen
Take care of yourself - eat well and get lots of sleep
Compartmentalize - break a big problem down into smaller pieces, then attack one piece at a time
Treat yourself - make a list of 10 enjoyable things and do one each day
Take a break - give yourself a chance to relax
Accept that things are often out of your control
Avoid doing more than one thing at a time
Get organized - schedule fun things into your day, just like your scheduled work
What No To Do:

Dont try to be perfect
Dont overreact
Dont feel guilty for taking a break
Dont worry - its wasted energy, try to do something more positive with your time

When we are right in the middle of feeling stressed out ... we loose our minds so to speak. I printed this out to help me get my mind back during those times ... until it becomes more of a habit for me to get it back on my own ... naturally. :) Hope this helps someone else out as well. 6 weeks today

Every time you step down with the patch there is going to be a certain degree of nicotine withdrawal. Nicotine withdrawal effects us all differently, but the same in a lot of ways. Each time you step down, as long as you are prepared for it I think you will do fine. Just remember until you are off the patch your body is still on nicotine. The withdrawals are not going to be fully gone until the nicotine is. I couldn't bear the thought of going through hell week 4 times. I took the patch off. When I started using the patch, I thought it made it easier on me to quit. But because I never quit before ... I had nothing to compare it to. Once I took the patch off and went through hell week again ... I realized that cold turkey is easier than keeping the drug in you but not getting to smoke ... don't know if that makes any sense to anyone ... but it did for me. If that helps someone ... cool ... if not ... forget it ... lol. I'm happy you made it through the weekend Skidoo ... you have one heck of a Quit going on. Congrats to you! Can't sleep!!!!

I had trouble sleeping with or without the patch on. Listen to HealerWithin ... Melatonin works great. It is natural. I buy mine at the health food store. I take 3mg when I go to bed and within the next hour ... I'm out. I wake up and no drug hang over. Works wonders. Emotionally upset

J Congrats on one week smoke free! That is an great accomplishment. You've save over $30. What's your reward going to be? * Be gentle with yourself ... smoking for many years ... the effects don't just disappear overnight. Take solace in the fact that this all will pass. Understand it takes time to get better ... be patient with yourself.
