hi all,
can anyone give me any advice?
i am on day 6 and things have been going very well, too well i think. i am on the patch and have not had any cravings at all. i have had quits like this before where all is well and then a little voice starts ecouraging me to have one, it may take a while but it always wins in the end. i cant understand why if i am not craving one why the hell do i want one. this time im gonna be ready and waiting, but if anyone has got any ideas to help i would be very greatful.

Elaine
just try and if it doesnt work try again. i know how you feel its so frustrating when you desperately want to do something but cant quite make it work. i am on my zillianth quit and this time havnt had a cig for 5 days. i think you have to be a bit selfish when you quit think of yourself for a while, be number 1. preperation is realy important get equipped with as much amunition as you can and take on one battle at a time.
Good Luck
We will all be with you

Thanks eveyone for the advice,
I have made a list of things i have to do when nico tries to befreind me again, its a very very very long list.
This time im going to come straight on to this site when i start hearing the 'voices'.
I am on day 7 today, the longest i have gone in a long time and i feel good about myself and i want to keep that feeling.
I was on the bus the other day with my 11 year old son and he said "mom you dont smell", so i said why do i usually smell. He replied with "yes you usually smell of cigerettes, but you dont smell of anything and its nice".
Its funny how you can walk about for years stinking like an ash tray and not even realise it, or be so hooked that you dont even care.

Hi TheNeek,
When i was in my 20s i promised myself i would stop smoking before i was 30. When i was in my 30s i promised myself i would stop smoking before i hit 40. Im 45 now and am on day 7 of my quit. How i wish i could have done way back then, i could have had 20 odd years of feeling a lot fitter than i have. What i am trying to say is do it now, keep it up or you will just spend the next 20, 30 or 40 years still trying. Do it for your girlfriend, do it for yourself and do it for any future children.
10 days is great, well done, keep it up.

I have found myself exploding from time to time during this quit and saying things that i wish i could take back. But once its been said you cant do anything about it, so i will do some deep breaths before i open my big gob in future.

Today has been a tough one for me, it was lunch time when i realised i had forgotton to put a patch on. By that time i diddnt know whether to put one on right away or not bother and see what happens. Because i was feeling ok i decided not to put one on.
I think i should have put one on, have spent the past 7 hours thinking about having a cig and then talking myself out of it. I have been waiting for my son to leave the room so i can pinch one out of his pack, but he always takes them with him, i think he's on to me. I have eaten so many sweets it made me feel sick.
The dilema is should i continue using the patch or not, when i get up tomorrow morning it will be 36 hours nicotine free, but I know i couldnt face another day like today.
