You are doing so well!

The quality of life as an ex / non-smoker is non-comparable.. ex / non-smokers don't need to satisfy nicotine addiction. A smoker can never satisfy thoe cravings for that 'next cigarette'. As smokers we needed more & more nicotine in our system. I'm the first to admit that i would have smoked every second of the day if i could. How stupid is that. sniff sniff ! rum & wine & pipe tobacco i love the smell of 'roll your own' tobacco.. yummmy I don't like the 'stale smoke breath' smell that wafts from a freshly smoked smoker, then again i never did. peace My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 579 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 14,491 Amount Saved: $3763.5 Life Gained: Days: 83 Hrs: 1 Mins: 10 Seconds: 25

Picking up a few more pieces. Part III

Hi Riverdale, sound like you're having an interesting time with setting up the new office, i feel excited for you. I can relate to the decision thing, i often question myself & have to 'double take' watching what i say. It's a bizare feeling that i still havn't got used to. I put it down to new found confidence we develop as non-smokers, being incharge of our destiny rather tham the nicotine steering us. Riverdale, i often wonder as a non-smoker... what decisions have i made that i wouldn't as a smoker & ...am i content in my new life from these decisions.. it helps restore my confidence & puts everything in perspective. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 539 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,491 Amount Saved: $3503.5 Life Gained: Days: 77 Hrs: 7 Mins: 40 Seconds: 20

Stopping smoking - The truth

NRT, Cold Turkey, Laser, Hypno what ever... No matter how positive we are or try to be - there is no doubt about it.. Stopping smoking is the hardest thing we will ever do in life. We need to change our lifestyle, attitude, eating habits, exercise habits, thought patterns and expect emotional turmoil. We are drug addicts, we know this is true & that it will be for the rest of our lives. Daily routines & efforts to re-train our mind without self medication can be a constant battle. There is no 'easy way' to stop smoking or are there secrets to quitting cos smoking is a lifestyle. When we give up smoking we are giving up a life-style so it makes perfect sence that you realise this if you are to have any success in quitting at all. You have two options.... 1, remain a smoker 2, work at staying a non-smoker. One thing though, i believe that support is probably the most important thing in remaining smoke-free... this site is proof of this.
