Falling out...

Hi guys, i can relate well, grrrrrrr. Friends, co-workers & even Family can really get up your goat. I too found that i was doing all the listening, I always helped others but when it came to me - well that was a different story. You're right tho, we knew this all along but chose to ignore it via a smoke to numb the brain making it more acceptable. I don't socialise with my now ex-friends or current co-workers, they are all self obsessed & boring to me. why put up with it ! I've become selfish cos to me my wife is my best friend & family is most imporant. In this day and age 'family time' is very precious. When we stop smoking we create a new life for ourselves, we need to surround ourselves with people who support & benefit us - distance ourselves from those who don't. I also believe it's better to be honest with people, don't be scared to tell them what you feel, after all you're the most important person in your life so why make things harder for yourself. Stoping smoking does restore an 'inner calm' & you do re-learn your true self but even though smoking is an addiction to nicotine, we wll end up going through the 're-evaluate ourlives' routine to clean out the crap !. Probably the best advice i could ever give to anyone stopping smoking...... Cut down on sugar / coffee so you don't get to hypo, exercise or go for a run gives you 'me time' & helps get rid of lifes frustrations (cos there's a lot of those !), Alan Carr would'nt go a miss either. cheer up. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 519 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,992 Amount Saved: $3373.5 Life Gained: Days: 74 Hrs: 11 Mins: 0 Seconds: 37

Will Soon Go Through IVF-Must quit smoking for baby's health

Hi there Angel 42, Firstly you need to understand why you find it so hard to 'quit' smoking, I don't think you do - otherwise you wouldn't be referring to smoking as your best friend ! Probably the quickest way for you to understand is to read Allen Carr's book "Easy way to stop smoking" plus stick around here. Tap in to the wealth of knowledge here & read, read, read. y o u m u s t w a n t t o s t o p s m o k i n g ;) good luck My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 520 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,003 Amount Saved: $3380 Life Gained: Days: 74 Hrs: 12 Mins: 42 Seconds: 1

Second-Class Citizens....

Yes, unfortuantly the powers that be have pushed society to associate smokers with bad stigma, it is no wonder smokers lash out. I don't them, i was one of them !. It's also unfortunate that it's generally non-smokers doing the 'anti-smoking' preeching, giving us non-smokers bad stigma. Anxiety-excuses-slip?

Do you & you're partner have a goal that you're working towards, do you need a reality check ?. Does you spouse realise what you're going through ?. Sometimes it helps 'stand back' & re-evaluate what we truely want. We all determine the situations we are in & only we can change it. Just think of what would truly make you happy & make it happen - it's that simple. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 519 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,993 Amount Saved: $3373.5 Life Gained: Days: 74 Hrs: 11 Mins: 11 Seconds: 24

AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH

yeah it's crap, Riverdale, I can remember quite vividly this 3 month hurdle you're in, it was very very hard for me...i almost chucked in the towl. The problem exists that we've studied & gained alot of knowledge about this addiction, enough to know we don't need to smoke to cure it. The problem is we can't shake the frustration at wanting one.. it sucks big time. It's bizare, but for some reason we all have to go through this 3 month / 100 day hurdle. I still have my moments & you know the thing thats scares me the most, it's how much of a hold this thing has over all of us & it's was legal !... addiction sucks, Keep you're head up & fight this damn thing. as you know, it does get easier. It just keeps on getting better

Hi there People, good to see all the regulars still around. just a quick post... The town i live has just become the first metropolitan centre in New Zealand to declare outdoor smokefree zones. All parks, playgrounds and reserves are now smokefree. The ban won't be enforced - but the local council is confident locals will take notice. Signage will be erected accordingly. Boy I'm glad i don't smoke anymore, smokers are becoming a very isolated bunch and it's just going to get worse for them. :8o: I tell you what though, you shure get used to spending that 'smoke money' on rewards. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 515 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,880 Amount Saved: $3347.5 Life Gained: Days: 73 Hrs: 19 Mins: 45 Seconds: 8

Non-smokers - in charge ?

Just a few thoughts to hopefully inspire... As a smoker i could sometimes be happy (if i worked at it). I sometimes felt depressed but that was o.k. cos i was able to relax & 'do nothing' for extended periods of time (sort of helped), i could do this by self medicating with nicotine, numbing my brain & keeping my emotions & thoughts at bay. As a smoker i was always happy with 'just the way things are' & didn't search for my worth and place in the world. I simply smoked and smoked and smoked till i couldn't smoke no more to try & brake free. Now...... As a non-smoker i am happy & feel 'clean', if i'm depressed i'll do something about it & fix it. I can still relax but limit my coffee & sugar intake (which makes perfect sence), I will self medicate with life experience cos my emotions are free & thoughts rampant but thats o.k. cos as a non-smoker i do not accept 'this is just the way things are' if i don't like the situation or the way things are.... i'll change it or avoid it because... My happyness is paramount. I do not smoke cos i don't want to ! I am at last.. in charge.. i am truely free but most of all. i do what makes me happy. me, me, me, me be happy ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 517 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,943 Amount Saved: $3360.5 Life Gained: Days: 74 Hrs: 4 Mins: 22 Seconds: 54
