Give the Lady 8 months!

Hey Lady! Eight months! What a dream we had last July! How afraid we were of something that was going to improve our lives by so much. And how foolish not to have spent the energy to do it long ago. CONGRATULATIONS! May your life continue to get better every day! You have worked hard, and deserve everything God blesses you with in the new future you are working hard to obtain. Thanks for being my friend. mom in need of help

Hi Mom, Life with the little ones can be a stress in itself. Perhaps the trick for you is going to be finding something that you can do while still engaging them. You might take up bubble blowing, its great for the kitchen floor, and helps you with breathing. Kids enjoy doing it with you. Or if you need something a little more stimulating, Clay sculpturing can be a help. Rolling and poounding, and squishing can relieve alot of cares. Once the weather clears, flower gardening is good for all. And to that walks and playground life. Breath deep. Start an excerse program with music that the kids can like. They will enjoy joining in with you. Make it fun for all of you, and you will accomplish your goal and still keep them busy. And for the frustrating days, ripping up paper is still an option. Or I heard that getting some cheap glass plates at the 2nd hand store and a cardboard box of good size; taking and throwing the plates into the cardboard box very hard, and hearing them smash can be very satisfying. (The box is to keep all the pieces in one place, so the clean up is easier) Continue to make your plans ahead of time. COngratulations on being ready to start to take charge of your life once more. We can't wait to watch you make this journey successfully. Cheryl [font=georgia][size=4][color=navy] No Joking! I'm Still Not Smoking! The Daily Diet Watch IV

Hey Rusty, Here is to the new Arthritis meds, may they make your life more comfortable than ever. But until the flare is under control, it is hard to be worried about what you do or don't eat. As you know slow gently non-stress excercise is the thing. Stretching, and Yoga or tia chi can be of benefit. And laughter is always a potent analgesic. Friday for me was easy to figgure and Saturday has been a blast. d- a 4 oz bowl of chicken noodle soup and 4 saltines. Nothing more until 3 in the afternoon. at which time I had a Dr. Pepper. By 4 oclock I went to join the teen group on their 30 hour fast for hunger. Wow, Imagine being locked up with 53 teenage kids for all that time and all we got was a glass of either apple or grape juice every 3-4 hours. It was an experience to hear from them what it felt like to be hungry (for most it was a first time thing) Seeing videos of what world vision is accomplishing in some third world countries and know that what they were doing would have a positive effect on someones life. They all went out collecting donations of food and money. the food to go to the food banks. and the money to send to world vision. What a very positive way to spend a weekend. And Totally Smoke Free. The fast continue until 6 pm tonight and we broke it with a spaghetti feed. Amazing how much less everyone ate than normal. Right now I am enjoying a bowl of Special K. and glad to be here where eating is a choice. Total exercise was being penned in with 53 teens who were up until after 2 and back up by 7 am. Todays menue will look different I am sure. Cheryl

6-12 CLUB III

I hope that water is very warm and smooth. I could use a very relaxing float right now. give me a water raft and one of those umbrella drinks. Heavy on the sunscreen and perhaps a beach towel robe to cover up on the raft. I may just stay there for a few hours.\ Cheryl

Had a VERY BAD episode tonight!

Fourth day quit is good. Having no plan for when the panic sets in is not good. Did you do the program that is on the left side of the page? If so you need to review some of the steps in your glove compartment. If you haven't done them, then give your great guy a break and get to work. Leaning on someone when we are weak is something that we have all done on this journey. However, part of the journey is learning to stand on our own feet and not depend on someone else to fight for us. Otherwise what will happen the first time he isn't there and your craving hits? Get your plan togeather. HELP

Welcome bitterbutterfly, Like lady said, that first week can be hell, but it does pass one minute at a time. Use that available time to go through the program on the left if you haven't already done so. Then use what ever time you have with us reading old post. There is a whole world of information out there and its all available to you ..24-7. If you are looking for something in particular then you can do a search and find lots of post on the subject. Just keep yourself busy and the time will go faster. See you around. Hi

Stargazer, eleven years. Well, thats a good amount of time. As for your dirty little secret, you are one of many. Personally, I have worked as a nurse for over 30 years, and every day of it as a smoker. You are not alone there were thousands of us out there. However, each day there are less and less. As for whatever reason finally gets to us, we quit. Welcome to the world of not smoking. You will eventually love it. But don't forget to take your breaks. Even if everyone else does. Not smoking, now what?

Hey Little Mama, There are 1000 things to do after the kids turn in at night. First is there a man in your life? Cause they add another 100 or so things to do. Try a relaxing candle light bath with bubbles if you like them. Dish soap can provide them is you have no bubble bath. Try on all the clothes in your closet and see what fits. Repair any snags, splits or buttons missing. Lay on the floor and listen to music, with or without lights. Call someone on the phone. Write a letter. Start a journal about what is going on in your life. Look at old photo alblums. Try scrapbooking new photos. Go in each of your childrens room and just sit with them for 5 minutes while they sleep. Pray for them. Dream about their future for them. Recall something special they did today that made you proud, or smile, or happy, or cry. Plan to take your children somewhere special this next week for putting up with a mom who is so concentrated on quitting this week. Give yourself a manicure. Or a complete lotion rubdown. Try reading a book. Look up a new subject on the internet. Play solitare. Organize your recipes. Clean out a cupboard in your kitchen. Scrub the bathroom floor. The list never ends, as long as you know how much energy you are willing to put forth, you will be able to find something that you can do to fill the time. Actually, my trouble is finding time to do all the things that I have thought of since I quit. Right now, I am looking for puppet patterns. You know the old fashioned hand puppets that are made to look like people. I want to make several, and then either give them to my church for a childrens puppet ministry, or give them to the local hospital for the childrens ward. I have two crocheted blankets almost finnished. one is for my husband and the other for the new mothers club at the hospital. Keep looking, there is plenty to do. ANd you can always put on some music and dance. (its called exercise, but don't tell anyone) You are doing fine. Just find some new outlets.
