Is It Me?

Hi Red, hmm...what an odd post you have here... your support, along with everyone else's support, is appreciated even if it is not always recognized. There are a lot of people who make this site a welcome place to come when quitting smoking, and you have definately become one of them... I can relate to the feeling of becoming discouraged with your quit, as i feel the same way every now and then...it's not new any more, the thoughts/craves are still around and we feel they should be gone by now, non-smokers wonder why we're not over it already...after all, it's been over a MONTH already!! However, here on SSC, there's almost always SOMEONE who can relate with what you are going through. If you need a pat on the back, start a post called "please pat me on the back"...I know i need one every now and then!! So here's a pat on the back for you redrosie. You're doing a great job of keeping the quit, and that's what we're here for. Nekkid Breaker, Lucy p.s. (Keep on with the animated smileys - i LOVE those guys!!) I MISS MY SMOKEY TREATZ!!! :(

Hey chicken, Do you remember saying this:
I decided Saturday night at 2am that I was just tired of smoking. I told my husband I was done and I haven't picked up a cigarette. This is the first time I have attempted to quit because I wanted to. I don't feel that cigarettes should have that much control over my life. I still go back to the smoke room with my husband when he smokes and really it doesn't bother me. I have started the 14mg patches rather than the 21mg and they seem to be working perfectly. I feel like this is easy...could it be the worst is yet to come?
or this:
I like the fact I quit smoking and I want to keep it that way.
Don't you find it somewhat sad that you consider smoking a "treat" and cigarettes your "friends"!!?? That tobacco has such a hold on you that you feel "obsessed" with cigarettes? Most of us here have been through the stage where we "miss" cigarettes, and we feel like something is missing from our lives, it's a part of quitting that we just have to get through. And you CAN get through it. Cigarettes are NOT your friends. Joe Camel is not anyone's friend. He blackens your lungs and the lungs of those around you, entices young teenagers to become hooked on nicotine, his only real friends are lung-disease, heart-disease, cancer, the government, emphysema etc. You can do it, we can help, but you have to read a LOT and try to understand the truth about smoking. As one of the Great Ones says "Knowledge is Power". Breakers.....Where are you??

Hi Aunt Sissy, Well, I'm sorry to say I am no longer a Breaker...I finished with the patch a couple weeks ago, started a new job, and took up smoking again... I've set a new quit date for this coming Sunday. I'm really proud of you all, and if only I were a little stronger, I would be right here with you. For now, I'm just occasionally lurking on the outside...I'm not online as often in my new job though... Ex-Breaker, Lucy
