If you are at 200 days and miserable, it's good to know that it's not always such a drastic thing.....but.....if you are only past a week and read that, it CAN seem like a drastic thing. don't project yourself ahead and into difficult times. If most of us are honest, thing only get better. Yes, we have bad days....but we had bad days when we were smoking! We just tend to forget and blame quitting with ALL our woes. it simply isn't true.
what you are feeling at this point in time is perfectly normal....the blues can really set in and make us miserable. It's that ole business about feeling like we have LOST something invaluable. This addiction is NOTORIOUS for making us feel that way! you stand up...stretch tall....breath deep....take hold of my hands and repeat after me. "my so called "friend" is a killer....My REAL friend is freedom.....the ability to CHOOSE what I will do.....and my choice at this time is to not smoke." THEN.....you turn your back on thinking about smoking and you turn this "jamie day" into a reward. yes by gum, you DESERVE this day in your jamies....with maybe a cinnamon roll?....a flavored hot drink?....a good book?.....a couple of new movie rentals? (send hub to get them) We call this the REWARD SYSTEM.....and yes, you DO deserve them.....every time you feel down and out over this, you reward yourself.....you do lots of instant ones and you have bigger ones planned for certain milestones.....this rewarding gives you a reason to 'move' forward and to also 'think' forward
don't dwell in the future and avoid thinking about the past.....deal with right now....and right now is simply how you 'choose to do things at the present'..
here's a hug for today {{{{{hug}}}}}....now you ENJOY the rest of this day....be GOOD to yourself.....you are SO SO worth it!

ask yourselves how you can truly miss something that is going to kill you? Be honest.....you will see that you are just an addict craving a fix. In truth there is nothing about smoking to 'miss'. Addiction to nicotine causes stress and desease...... On the other hand there is lots that you WERE missing by smoking! Make lists! Think positive always.....fill your mind with list of good reasons to stay quit!
hang tough....kick butt

Being tired is a real symptom.....be good to yourself during this time.....plenty of rest, regular meals, healthy snacks, exercise, little rewards and pampering each day. Use your patches faithfully and as directed....they will help to take the edge off the cravings. I used them and credit them with allowing me to wean off nicotine while I developed coping skills to use when I finally purged my system of it completely. The freedom is wonderful....don't ever doubt it! hang tough and remain in control

during my first year of being quit, I would think of smoking when a crisis would arise....when I would be hit with some stressful situation.....when I became angry over anything....I guess you might call the thoughts a crave....it wouldn't last....it was more like a "dang it what is wrong here" and then realizing it was that I was used to handling the situation by lighting up....then there might be a slight, but sudden twinge or desire to light up. It was sort of weird....a crave but not a crave. Those times became further and further apart as I learned to handle lifes situations and curve balls without smoking. I do NOT think of smoking anymore....not even during a crisis. I DO realize that if I were to take a puff, I would be back down the tubes....I am a nicotine junky.....but at this point I feel free.....and I intend to keep my freedom!

You learned a lesson....and you still HAVE those days you didn't smoke.....your meter is YOUR meter....you do what works for you...doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
Developing coping skills is VERY important when you quit. The anger and depression, the triggers....it's all very real and difficult to conquer....the comping skills will be ways in which to distract and delay....not only the actions, but the "thinking" as well. You also need a reward program...rewards both big and little..they don't have to be costly....they need to deal with making you FEEL good about yourself and relating it directly to having NOT smoked. Something as simple as some time to yourself can be a reward.
and 48 days is awesome.....it WILL get easier the further you go
