Day 9 and Crying

18 years ago 0 519 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Years ago when I quit smoking the first time around. And I must say it was terrible. There was no such thing as NRT. It was so bad, at times I thought I'd rather die. I hung in there, although I don't know why I did. Anyway, after I was a confirmed non-smoker, at about six months or so I still had occasional cravings. I went to an acupuncturist and had a series of deep relaxation treatments. I never had another craving after that. Even when I started smoking again it wasn't cause I had a craving. I'll probably do that again. I looked for the cold laser treatments around here and can't find a place that offers them.

Stoppin' - I know how you feel......going from Hell Week into Heck Week, I asked my hubby (who has been quit for 8 years now) WHEN WILL I STOP THINKING, WANTING, CRAVING A SMOKE??????? He said probably never. Which set me back a peg or two. However, he also said "the "wants/craves/thinks" are few and far between, and nothing like what you are going thru now"" So that made me feel better. And he's right. I no longer dread every day as another where I am battling craves. I still get them, had a doozy of a weekend LAST week, but here I am - smoke free still. You can get thru this. Do as the others suggested, if you can....take a "ME" day today. If it has to be a PJ day, so be it. Make the most of it and relax, do something you have been putting off, like that book, that movie, that yummy dessert...... Keep strong.......we're all here for you! Hang in there Stoppin, 9 days is great! You will feel better, it will get easier. Don't worry about having craves at 200 days, just focus on the here and now. 1 day at a time, 1 hour at a time. I am taking a jammie day off work today too. Call it one of my rewards for myself. Pamper yourself today, maybe have a nap later since you didn't sleep well last night. You deserve it. You also deserve not to smoke! Keep Strong, You can do this. I have not been sleeping well. We had really loud thunderstorms last night too. But, I know the real deal...I am feeling depressed. I am sitting here typing with tears coming down my cheeks. Hubby asked if I was ok...I said looks like it might be a jammie day for me. I know there are no answers as to when my skin will stop crawling but I want it to go away. Then I have read a couple of post where people with over 200 days under their belts are saying they still have anxiety and craves. This is the worst thing for me to read. It may be honesty but it sure does hurt my outlook on things. Taking it 1/2 day by 1/2 day...even if today I cry for 1/2 the day. Thank you everyone....I took a shower and I smell great! I am still crying but hubby is taking me on my errands so I am not tempted one bit to make a detour! He is also taking me to the petstore...what a great place...puppys don't smoke either! I may be crying but I am not smoking.... Thanks again...I have almost completed the 1st part of my 1/2 a day! Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. No puppies for me I have a big puppy (yellow lab) already. I am feeling bit better this afternoon; however, this was the most horrible day of my life. I am not sure what was the saving grace or maybe it was everything wrapped up into one. Tomorrow is another day eh?? Ok, going back to watching chick flicks so that I have an excuse to cry! Thanks again!!! Stoppin.... You've got the heebie jeebies huh? I forgot all about that horrible skin crawling feeling. (See it goes way) Take your jammie day. You have given up a horrible addiction. It takes a while for you body to adjust but longer for your mind to adjust. Go ahead and cry too. There is nothing wrong with it and chances crying will make you feel better. These feelings don't last forever. Everyone's quit is different but think of it like this "Every day is one day closer to never feeling this way again". You are having cravings....when you are over 200 days you merely have some fleeting thought. Like remembering a high school event. BIG BIG difference. You can do this. We all do crazy things when we quit just to get through the next few minutes. I have screamed, had PJ days, cried TONS of tears, and survived. You will do it too. The freedom from smoking is awesome and worth every miserable second. Just hang in there :) Know what else I found? PJ days can be fun. Just relax and pamper yourself. We all deserve it every now and then. Hang in there and cry if you want and sit in your jammies all day if you feel like it. Take a hot bath or listen to some favorite music or watch a movie, or go for a walk, anything that distracts you. Pamper yourself today you deserve it. Drink lots of orange juice and water and eat some "comfort food". In other words this day is just for YOU. As far as the 200 day craves they are nothing like you are going through right now, they are more a thought, just like you would think I am tired or hungry. Yes, take it 1 day or 1 min at a time, dont look to 200 days yet. It does get better and you are going to feel so good and so proud!!!
