Hi everyone

Hi everyone,
I quit on Saturday past, today is my 6th day.  Day 3 & 4 were the days that I had to check the mirror and see if my head was spinning still!  Wow I am glad I am not that bad today.
One unexpected benefit is that when I am really feeling that 10 ton monkey on my back I get up & do yard work or something.  I actually cleaned out my 10X15 shed that was completely full w/ books in 2 days.
Good luck and may your head stop spinning too, all my new brethren.

Hi everyone

Thanks guys and gals.  I realllly would have liked to have one of those evil cylindrical objects today!  I kept telling myself I want a cigarette so I can die younger-so I can look older- so I can have stinky hair etc...  it worked for today and that's all that counts right now today!
It is nice to have some people who know what it is like to listen and share.

Day 1 over

Lisa way to go!  Isn't it odd that you (myself included) want to smoke at work?  We are not able to smoke at work and yet that is where I find my craving the highest.  Good for you for having the attitude to keep on trying.  See your next post soon.

Here's hoping

Good choice to quit smoking and we all know how hard it is, so here is a big hurrah for you.  I found a lot of past posts helpful in knowing what to expect and when.  Love the quit meter too, like to see all that green money I get to keep and not the sin taxes keeping!

3 hours to quitting

Way to go to make the choice to stop smoking!  I also quit cold turkey, the best advise I got so far REWARD!  I guess I am geared like a dog the reward system is helping me lean better behavior!  Read the posts for information that is useful.  Again good job!

1st day...

AWESOME you made it half way through the 1st day!  I know for me every time I am craving I get up and do something, consequently my house is super clean and so is the yard!  See good things from this.
I was dreading a lifetime of craving, but have since discovered it does subside and look it has only been less than 3 weeks for me.

can't take it any more

Melany,
I went from Ms.Dynamo needing to be busy all the time to crash and burn the house down but I am not getting out of bed if I don't reallllly gotta.
Lighting up with a good book, or a this or a that was a way of life and now that it isn't I seem to have so much extra time on my hands that once I passed through the stage of being tired, I had to find more stuff to do!
I gave more time and thought to when and where I was going to smoke next than to real life, so giving up such an important part of your self is going to take a toll even if what your giving up is bad for you.

One good thing about it my tomato plants went from only needing one support cage to needing three side by side per plant!   Way to much attention they are getting.
I am glad to see you were able to stick it out.  EXCELLENT JOB!!!

The thing that surprises me the most and it shouldn't is how much the symptoms can vary from day to day.  Just when I think I got one part licked it creeps up again, I am hoping it will STOP!
One more time EXCELLENT choice to stay quit and good for you.

2899 Days! 7 years!

I encourage each and every one of you who have come here to just do it!  You may have lapses but the good thing is you can start as many times as you need.  I finally did it and am now smoke free for 7 years.  I won't lie to you it isn't easy but so worth the journey.  Hiking with the dog is and breathing free.  Yes, you can!
