I faltered a little yesterday and hit the vending machine in the afternoon, but just by cutting back on snacking the past two days, I've already lost 2 pounds....woohoo!!! Couldn't believe it. Today and yesterday I had oatmeal for breakfast, and I'm planning on a healthy low calorie microwaveable meal for lunch. I also had one for dinner last night instead of greasy hamburgers and french fry's the family was eating....ok, I snagged two french fry's....but other than that I had control. I will post my calorie instake for today in the morning. Ok, I'm smoke free, but I have gained 8 pounds. About 4 years ago, I went on a get healthy kick and just calorie counted and lost 30 pounds. I lost the first 10-15 pounds alone just cutting back on my calories every day, the other 15-20 pounds required 20-30 minutes of exercise (walking) 3-5 times a week. If anyone is interested in doing this with me, I would love the company I realize it's hard to start a diet when the holidays are coming, but this is not hard core. You can start whenever you want to. I start by keeping track of my calorie intake for like 2-3 days to see how many calories I am taking in normally, then I start cutting back. Obviously, there are certain days I do not calorie count.....Christmas day, New Years and similar special occasions...but just normal days it's very easy because everything has a calorie count on it or you can look it up on the internet. Here are some tips: 1. I don't count any fruits and vegetables. These are unlimited because they are good for us, so these are free. 2. You can have anything you want (yes even fried mushrooms), but eating an entire basket of fried mushrooms is not recommended...have two and let your friends eat the rest (LOL) 3. I am female and I would keep my calorie intake between 1200-1500 calories a day...but everyone is different...some people can eat 2,000-2,500 a day and still loose weight, so you set your own limit and adjust as you go along. 4. Obviously, drink lot's of water (which we should already be doing), and I limited my cola's (pop, soda) to one a day. 5. The cool thing is this really requires no special purchase of special foods. I do purchase "healthy" microwaveable lunches, and I eat oatmeal almost every day for breakfast, but snacks and dinner's are pretty normal except smaller portions. So if anyone else would like to breath in their jeans again (like me). We can post how many calories we ate the day before, and total weight loss as we loose weight...sorry, nobody is getting my starting weight...LOL. The little black dress for New Year's will fit!!!! Hello Ladies...and Phil... Ok....I need some serious motivation. I just looked in the full length mirror in the bathroom...and I hardly recognized myself.....I swear I'm gaining a pound a day! After 6 weeks of quitting, remind me I don't need the chocolate anymore or the other junk food I've been grabbing to fill the voids. My back is really bothering me and I know it's from the extra weight. Any inspirational thoughts on this weight subject will be very much appreciated. I do have a doc's appointment for the back next week and my quit is not in jeapordy....Smoking won't make me loose the weight.... I had a very large salad for dinner with fat free italian dressing, cucumbers and tomatoes........so today...I'm finally around the 1200 calorie mark..WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My arteries are sooo happy!! unsalted peanuts...270 calories...but lot's of protein, so going into dinner, I have 610...so I can have 500-600 for dinner...woohoo..that will get me a big salad.... Hello everyone! Great Job Missything!!!! I had no control this weekend. I was at a basketball tournament and the popcorn was flowing and we ate out ever meal....so today is monday, and thus far: Oatmeal for breakfast = 120 calories Lean Cusine for lunch (it was very good) 220 calories Dinner - is going to be a big salad with a no-cal dressing and lot's of vegies...as much as I can eat until I'm stuffed. Today, I'm staying around 1200 calories if it kills me!!! See you all tomorrow! Andy, I'm drooling over the porterhouse steak!!! Sounds yummy. Congrat's on the 6+ pounds....we have to remember, we are not trying to be super models (Phil will be happy), just healthy. Thanks Andrea, Your absolutely right. So it's cookies and truffles this weekend...and I'll start collecting information on eating healthier, to get my mind ready for the new year. I also agree about no quick fixes. When I lost weight on this calorie count diet a few years back.....it was a consistent slow weight loss that was very healthy. I never felt better...I want to have that feeling again with the non-smoking aspect. I know that quitting smoking is one of the hardest things I've ever done...if I can do this...I can do anything I set my mind to.
