Quote of the Day Part Two

What's hard is when there is a pattern of failure, and I see that, in my past, and judge myself negatively.  A similar thing happens with people outside of myself.  Using that "mental filter" in a negative way can be harmful.

Not many people are willing to give failure a second opportunity. They fail once and it's all over. The bitter pill of failure is often more than most people can handle. If you're willing to accept failure and learn from it, if you're willing to consider failure as a blessing in disguise and bounce back, you've got the potential of harnessing one of the most powerful success forces.

If you have tried to do something and failed, you are vastly better off than if you had tried to do nothing and succeeded. You must never regret what might have been. The past that did not happen is as hidden from us as the future we cannot see.

I think we have a way of forgetting how important people are, but also how important we might be to other people.

Thank you Gailerina,

I wish I'd had the courage, to more often tell others how important they were, in any significant way.  Often I've ended up at a funeral, or not even knowing about a passing of someone, with the guilt that I'd not had the courage to share these feelings

If only you could sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.

When the world says, “Give up,”
Hope whispers, “Try it one more time.”

You can do what you want to do, accomplish what you want to accomplish, attain any reasonable objective you may have in mind - not all of a sudden, perhaps not in one swift and sweeping act of achievement - but you can do it gradually, day by day and play by play, if you want to do it, if you work to do it, over a sufficiently long period of time.

Many men fail because they quit too soon. They lose faith when the signs are against them. They do not have the courage to hold on, to keep fighting in spite of that which seems insurmountable. If more of us would strike out and attempt the "impossible," we very soon would find the truth of that old saying that nothing is impossible... abolish fear and you can accomplish anything you wish.
- Dr. C. E. Welch

I was going to have a renovation done, and maybe I quite too soon, since I didn't get responses.  I'm going to try one of the member's suggestions and try asking hardware stores if they would take the job, since it might not be big enough for contractors.

Davit,
Sometimes that desire is replaced by pressures which aren't health.  I agree that the best reason is from within.

You can have anything you want if you want it desperately enough. You must want it with an inner exuberance that erupts through the skin and joins the energy that created the world.

The desire to do something is only the reason to. It gets you to do it. Setting realistic goals keeps it within boundaries, aiming high lets you know what you are capable of achieving. They work together for me.

I lose a few projects, but better that than to never know what I'm capable of. And I'm capable of more than I think, but less than I want.

Davit
