A quick check-in...I've been handed a huge project so haven't had time to log in too much. Last week I was on the road so my daily diet wasn't too good. I'm back on track this week and have lost a couple of pounds by closely monitoring calories through sparkpeople. They give me 1200-1500 a day -- some days it's hard to get up to 1200 and others I find myself edging over 1500. But staying between the two definitely seems to be working. Sunday: b - lf yogurt, Kashi GoLean l - apple, triscuits, cheese, water d - salmon, sugar snap peas, tomatoes, rice, water, small piece of pecan cake Monday b - oatmeal, 2% milk l - apple, triscuits, laughing cow cheese, water s - Reese's peanut butter cups d - leftover salmon on whole grain pita, grapes, water Walked 2 miles with weights with Leslie Today: b - oatmeal, 2% milk, grapes, mini baby bel cheese round l - will be hardboiled egg, turkey on pita, laughing cow, apple, water d - will be chuck eye steak, broccoli, sweet potato, water Going to the Y -- I'll walk for 30 minutes and do the leg machines Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 470 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,174 Amount Saved: $1645 Life Gained: Days: 64 Hrs: 17 Mins: 18 Seconds: 2

Yesterday b - ham and cheese omelet, whole wheat toast l - summer salad from Crispers - romaine, apple, strawberries, turkey, mandarin oranges, sugared pecans, herb citrus dressing d - Kashi cereal and 2% milk I used my 2 work breaks to walk --15 minutes/ half mile each and did the "Lift Weights to Lose Weight" dvd - 47 minutes of upper, lower, and abs. Lady, your diet may not be better than eating too much. I don't see any vegetables or fruit in there, mostly starches, high carb/high cholesterol, processed stuff. Sorry to fuss at you...you know I care about you. How about taking a cut-up apple with you in a baggie, or some celery and peanut butter, almonds, etc. Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 458 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,833 Amount Saved: $1603 Life Gained: Days: 63 Hrs: 1 Mins: 14 Seconds: 12

Well, I tried the Crunch Cardio Dance Party. I guess I'm just not a hip-hop dancer! lol But I did get through the whole thing, just in my own style - 45 minutes of aerobics. Yesterday: b - peach yogurt mixed with golean, coffee l - Olive Garden: soup and salad, and then cake to celebrate a coworker's wedding, water d - Barilla Plus pasta with spaghetti sauce, water Today: b - scrambled egg, ww toast, banana, coffee l - salad with Italian dressing (just a drizzle) s - 2 thin mints (WILL THEY NEVER GO AWAY!!!!!) d - meeting friends at a fancy Italian restaurant. I don't plan to skimp -- that's why I've been eating clean-ish for 2 days exercise - walked a mile at break with 2 co-workers Thanks, Hummy -- she won't listen to me! Sheila, thanks for sharing that! I felt like such a stooge and finally decided that it wasn't important to get the steps right, but just to keep moving. And you're right -- it was a great workout! I told one of my co-workers and today she brought me a belly dance-cardio dvd -- Neena and Veena doing India hip-hop. Now THAT's going to be funny! Yesterday my eating was horrible - when I totaled it up on sparkpeople, it came to nearly 2,000 calories and a million grams of fat. lol. Here's what I had: b - whole wheat toast w. peanut butter, hardboiled egg, half an apple l - pork ribs, baked beans, cole slaw, and my monthly coke Right there was 1,739 calories, so for dinner I had: d - Body for Life nutrition bar, water I had no clue that ribs had that many calories! Today I've had b - yogurt smoothie, half apple, V8 l - chicken sandwich on whole grain ciabatta bread. d - remains to be seen Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 459 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,866 Amount Saved: $1606.5 Life Gained: Days: 63 Hrs: 5 Mins: 5 Seconds: 44

Meg, a pedometer is a GREAT reward. I bought mine for my 30 days as I recall. Are you aiming for 10,000 steps? Some tricks are: don't use the elevator, park far away from your building, walk anywhere you can. A mile seems to be somewhere around 2,000 steps. Just keep going step by step, one foot in front of the other! Healer, I cook fish at least once a week....you can find all kinds of recipes online. You might also try 3fatchicks and sparkpeople for recipes. Most of the time, I marinate the fish for a little while (an hour maybe) in olive oil and lemon juice and dill, or in Italian dressing. Then I usually broil it. You can also bake it...depending on the thickness, try 20 minutes at 325. To test for doneness, take it out and see if it flakes with a fork. I cooked some salmon last week on the George Foreman grill and let it go too long...so it was a little dry, but it still tasted great. Oh, I just thought of another site that you will love...it's whfoods and it's a com site. The title is "World's Healthiest Foods." Actually go there, before you go to the others. For dinner tonight I had a thin slice of ham and swiss cheese on 1/2 of a whole grain pita, leftover broccoli and sweet potatoes. Lady, hope you're headache is better. HI Trudy, if you read through all the posts on this thread, you'll see that we're all doing different things. For instance, I'm doing a Mediterranean kind of diet with my own flourishes thrown in. This thread gives us a place to post how we're doing on our weight reduction efforts and a way to be accountable. Good luck and welcome!
