What were your reasons to quit....???

Why I quit: For the kids I don't have, yet To save our children of the future To be a good role model Be healthy Smell nice Have the control back To finish what I've started for once in my life, quitting Tired of the nagging to quit Tired of being the only smoker Money My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 32 Amount Saved: $6.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 59 Seconds: 33

One craving at a time

Hello Gin: Congrats. I am just one day ahead of you on the non-smoker's list! The best advice I can give you. Try to pick your battles. You will find that you are more agitated due to the lack of nicotine. Usually most of us would smoke like chimneys in these moments, but just realized that it is from the withdrawal. The other things that I have worked for me: lots of cold water, deep breathing exercises, and walking/running. Good luck. If you can, consume yourself with this website! It has so much to offer and it really helps! i am so tired

Wow! What a relief. I have experienced the same thing. Also, did anyone get flu-like symptoms. I've been so tired, a little coughy, congested, and just achy all over. Jeff, hang in there, I'm with you on this one! Thanks Sullydog! Can anyone tell me...

Did anyone feel like they were getting a cold when they quit? My nose is a bit sore, I am congested, a little coughy, achy...just some flu-like symptoms. Is this common? I am on my third day and just started feeling this way when I woke up this morning. Thanks in advance! Can anyone tell me...

Very helpful information. Makes sense because I feel worse today. And now I am experiencing the no sleep symptom. Wow! It is truly amazing at just how toxic cigarettes are to your body. I always just thought my lungs were catching the brunt of it all, but boy was I wrong. I am definitely not smoking anymore. Besides, what's the point! I am getting through the hardest part and smoking just one is not worth going through this again!!! Thanks everyone! What would I do without such a great support system? Thank you SSC! Losing it.

All I can say is stay strong, one craving at a time. My initial quit date was Oct 15, I went 6 days without a smoke, then I resumed smoking for 5 days, and now I am back at it again. It is the hardest thing I have ever done, but it would be much, much harder if it were not for this network. Visit often, write often, get the feedback you need. You can do this, just think, you gone 20 hours, so you have already proven to yourself that you really don't need the cigarette. We have to convince ourselves that we are non-smokers. Good luck! Frustrated!

Hello Ex-MG: I have been trying to quit for some time now as well. My original quit date was Oct 15, succeeded for almost a week, resumed, and now I am back on track. I, too, am quitting for similar reasons, but I just don't have the kids yet! I was visiting my uncle who has a 2 1/2 and 9 month old. We were out back smoking and the 2 1/2 yo said to her mom that she wanted to smoke like daddy. I was devastated and decided that I did not want to be that role model to those girls or my future kids. Good luck! Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it is the way I feel about myself--just do it already, stop toying with the idea. Realize that if you have gone even just one day without smoking, then you have already proven that you do not need them. This is what I am repeatedly telling myself because it is so true. I went 6 days, the longest ever, and now I'm starting all over again and it sucks and I never want to feel like this again. Stay on this site as much as humanly possible for support and encouragement. Deperately seeking... something, anything... HELP!!!

Jaden: I am right there with One more try and goofy when it comes to being new at this. I have tried to quit on and off for a total of three years, but got real serious when I found this amazing website. My quit date, Oct 15, lasted 6 days, resumed smoking, and now I am attempting it again. Can I just vent here and say I am ready to rip someone's head off. Everything that could possibly get under my skin - IS! I have been on this site all day just reading what everyone is writing, trying to stay cool. I want to cave, but I don't want to smoke. I know that it will not make me feel better, but I really need for this feeling to go away. I, too, have been so irritable with my boyfriend. He knows about this process, he is all too familiar with my mood swings related to quitting, but it still does not make it easier on either of us. Thanks for listening and good luck to everyone! Frustrated!

Thank you No Smokin Tresa: I am having such a bad day. I am just pissed. I am pissed at the world and more importantly at the nasty people who invented, made, and keep making cigarettes. How evil of a person must you be to deliberately poison people day after day. Sure we make the choice, but I guarantee you I would have thought twice about it 13 years ago before starting if I would have known just want was in those things. This is honestly, without a doubt, the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I know, based on talking with others, that you will have that voice in your head, you know, to smoke one, but I just want to know when that voice gets easier to fight. I know that it will get easier, and that everyone is different, but I am just really hating this right now. Thanks for listening. I will try to refrain from posting anymore venting rampages for one day. Thanks again! :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 32 Amount Saved: $6.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 15 Seconds: 57
