Deep breathing, Ice cold water. I used to argue out loud with that voice, just over and over telling it that even though I wanted a cigarette, I wasn't going to have one. Why? Because I am a nonsmoker!!!!!! And Non smokers Do Not Smoke!!!!! lol.....I used to yell that if I had to. I don't have to do that anymore :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 222 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,880 Amount Saved: $1,509.60 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 0 Mins: 21 Seconds: 46

iwillnotfail- Hi there! For me day 2 was the hardest, day 3 was almost as bad, but then it got WAY easier! The voices I hear now are just suggesting a smoke, not demanding one, and they are pretty easy to ignore. I'm half way to one month of being smoke free! I use deep breathing quite a bit to fight urges. Hang tough! Hello there. Nice to see so many young ones one here! You really have made the best decision to quit now. Both my children gave up at about age 23 - one using patches and the other going by the book by someone whose name I have completely forgotten for the moment...... This is probably because I am old enough to be suffering from memory loss!! but glad to be stopped smoking after 40 years+ Gen :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 216 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,456 Amount Saved: 1,080.00 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 15 Mins: 38 Seconds: 25

Thank you No Smokin Tresa: I am having such a bad day. I am just pissed. I am pissed at the world and more importantly at the nasty people who invented, made, and keep making cigarettes. How evil of a person must you be to deliberately poison people day after day. Sure we make the choice, but I guarantee you I would have thought twice about it 13 years ago before starting if I would have known just want was in those things. This is honestly, without a doubt, the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I know, based on talking with others, that you will have that voice in your head, you know, to smoke one, but I just want to know when that voice gets easier to fight. I know that it will get easier, and that everyone is different, but I am just really hating this right now. Thanks for listening. I will try to refrain from posting anymore venting rampages for one day. Thanks again! :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 32 Amount Saved: $6.40 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 15 Seconds: 57

Thanks Danielle, it really helps to hear someone say that. I'm having a bit of a hard time today but that's also probably because I haven't even used the inhaler yet and I've been up for a couple of hours now. The program is great! It really does help to hear positive support from people who are going through similar feelings. Thank you once again :) Day 3, here I go! Sprquits, Are you kidding? The first few days are a huge accomplishment! Congratulations! We encourage you to work through the tools of the program if you haven't already. Lots of great tips to be had! Our forums are equally a rich resource. Keep us posted. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

hello, I just wanted to introduce myself as well. I used to smoke heavily when I was in my teens. It lasted 4 years but towards the end I was smoking 2 packs a day. Then I quit and was cigarette free for 13 years. Although this past year I had big changes in my personal life and suddenly saw myself getting hooked again. In the last three months I was trying to quit on and off. This past week I realized that I no longer want to feel like I am not in control of my life so I bought the inhaler (the gum was a bit useless for me before) and have now been 48 hours smoke free. I know it is not much yet, but like I said, I'm determined. I feel great already. The walk to work doesn't seem so tiresome, I feel motivated to do some yoga every morning again and my home smells wonderful. I believe this time I will do it and be a non-smoker again. Cheers and good luck to everyone out there! :)
