I've had that congestion, sorta sore throat when I first get up and i's been more than a few weeks since I quit. Maybe it's from snoring or I should run the air purifier at night. I sleep fine though ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 608 Amount Saved: $152.00 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 3 Mins: 59 Seconds: 19

Very helpful information. Makes sense because I feel worse today. And now I am experiencing the no sleep symptom. Wow! It is truly amazing at just how toxic cigarettes are to your body. I always just thought my lungs were catching the brunt of it all, but boy was I wrong. I am definitely not smoking anymore. Besides, what's the point! I am getting through the hardest part and smoking just one is not worth going through this again!!! Thanks everyone! What would I do without such a great support system? Thank you SSC! No kidding, Anna. The only winter I have not had pneumonia or pleuresy in the last 5 years, was the one where I was quit from September to January. Of course, when I was sick all winter, I always smoked right through it because, you know, I was just "susceptible". It had nothing to do with smoking. You know what is good about getting a cold after you quit smoking? It does not linger for the remainder of the winter! Iwillnotfall, It's not uncommon to become ill after you quit. Your body is repairing all the damage smoking introduced. This is its first priority at the moment. Be sure to take good care of yourself in the days to come. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

I got a sore throat and then i got congestion in my chest. Could not sleep. Was not hungry, Wanted to cry all the time. I am a lot better now. It takes a few weeks to get your system working without nicotine. Hi, Iwill. As aloha said, quite a few people have mentioned those symptoms i the first few days. It's also possible that you have a cold, and since your immune system is busy withdrawing from nicotine, you should take extra good care that it doesn't develop into something worse. Get enough rest, listen to your body & give it what it needs. Congrats on 2 days smoke-free, you're almost throught the worst part! iwill, I've seen quite a few people mention these types of symptoms. Our bodies seem to go through all sorts of weirdnesses as we get rid of all the toxins in our bodies. As always, if the symptoms persist, see your doctor My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 209 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,360 Amount Saved: $1,421.20 Life Gained: Days: 29 Hrs: 4 Mins: 53 Seconds: 18
