Day 1 under way...

Hello all! Update here and then I will go back to "Augustos" -- What a GREAT day! At 7:16 I am happy, no longer sick to my stomach (thanks for the tips - I ate and drank water before taking pm dose) and feel really proud of myself. I mean, silly, girly proud of myself. And I am so ready for the hard days - I embrace them now and will fight like heck when they hit. My best friend sent me a plaque that says "you have to walk through it to get to the other side --- no detours". The best part, I realized today only 2 friends (out of lots of friends and family) still smoke. I will finally fit it! woo hoo! ha. Thanks again for all the support and Tresa, I should own stock in a sucker company after today! Have a great evening everyone.

Quiting is Easier Than

Quitting is easier than missing the final touchdown of the Superbowl (and I am a HUGE football fan) because I stepped out to smoke "just one"

Coping with Day One

I LOVE these -- how great that I did everything on Rusty's list except stay home from work (its Sunday) and give a treat every hour (but I have had a few rewards). Great thread! Can't wait to read tomorrow for my Day Two

Day 1 under way...

Thanks Sue and Rusty! No problem with not lighting up Rusty - I made hubby hide all matches and lighters (like I was going to light a carrot or something :quest:) -- I am good to go, unless the power goes out or I want to light a candle! ha. hope you see you all tomorrow!

Insertions Wanted

Love this! How about this one: If I just cut back it would be easier to quit FACT If I just cut back I would NEVER quit! (These little inserts are great - they make you think about your quit- Thanks!)

ADDICTION IS UGLY

Too true Joyful! Today was the hardest day in history for me and the least of which was my quit - but those are the times we are tested the most. Keep the quit and take care of yourself. What a true test...

today was. Day two started out scary- I knew Day 1 was wayyyy too easy! I woke up craving and decided to do what I had planned - CLEAN. My husband had a doctor's appt and I even had him take the keys to my car so I couldn't leave. A good idea at the time -- but then (after I had cleaned for 3 hours straight) I receive a call from him saying he is at the hospital and the dr thought he has a bloodclot in the leg. So - not only do I not have my addiction to "calm me down", I don't have keys to get to him. To make a VERY long story short, I was going to call a cab if the tests went bad but luckily all is well and it was not a clot. Yes - this might have just been a crisis for some and you move on but it set me into orbit - he is my world and we have had a very short time together. While waiting to hear from him I cleaned my house from one end to the other and was up and down the stairs about 100 times. The best news - I DIDN'T SMOKE. I didn't call my neighbor who would have gladly given me one, I didn't search the house for that partial pack that I know is somewhere, I just burned calories, ate suckers and prayed. (Okay - I did do one shot of tequila - have to be honest) My lesson on Day 2 - I soooo can do this. Not much could be as terrifying as today and my crutch was gone, but I survived and realized just how pathetic my smoking was in the grand scheme of life. Sorry for the length of this - but it was my true test and I passed!
