Congratulations! I read your story and I started young too, when I was 12 by stealing cigarettes from my brother & his wife, I wonder how many of us started off that way.

maybe I am odd, but whenever I have a crave or smoking thought, the more I try to put it out of my head, the more it comes back and the stronger it is. It seems when I do the opposite, I say to myself "hey someone wants a ciggy" and kind of pick it apart, like think about it as a living thing that looks like the mucinex guy, it blows away like a puff of smoke, really fast.
It works for me.

This time, I am more positive, and have learned a lot about the addiction of it. I look at smoking completely differently, as the problem that is causing the craving rather than the solution to make the crave go away. Also, when I think of smoking or have a crave, I don't try not to think about it. I pick it apart, like why now or imagine having a conversation with it. I am also using Chantix, but I forget the evening dose half the time now.
This quit has been easier and different than any other attempt I have made.

You know, it's just like if your dr says, hey cut the spicy food. It makes me think "hey, it's been a while since I've had Mexican. El yummo".
