I had that problem when I was using gum or lozenges. Not so much now, though...thank heaven
You did give me a good laugh though!

Well, first of all, congratulations on being smoke free for 3 weeks! That is no small accomplishment.
I am not using patches, I am using Chantix and think it does help a lot. However, I think what helps more is the mental side. In this quit, I am more positive and more mentally prepared and it has made a HUGE difference in the way I feel. I completed the program on the left in the glove compartment, and I feel that helped a lot. Also, I read around about addiction and the research that has been done on nicotine, which I think helped me a lot also. I also read a book by Allen Carr which was very helpful in the mental aspect of smoking also.
If you poke around a bit you will find a ton of threads about coping with cravings and really getting into the mental aspects of quitting. I also have heard more than once that 3 weeks is hard as is the 3rd day and the 3rd month.
Anyway, welcome to the SSC, I think you will find that everyone is very supportive.
Melissa

Yes getting harder and harder to smoke, makes it easier and easier to stay quit. Why get on board a sinking ship?

Were your friends mostly non-smokers or smokers? Mine were mostly smokers and now that I have quit I am noticing a gradual decline in the "drop-by" visitors. I think it is because there aren't ashtrays and no smoking in the house. My non-smoking friends are still the same, my smoking friends call, but don't swing by as they used to pretty regularly.
Anyone else notice changes like that? I hate to think that friendships are so tenuous, but I dropped quite a few friends when I quit doing drugs (back in the day, many many years ago) and there was no question that we just would not be friends any more. I hadn't thought about that for smoking, and still don't. But yet, there is the distance that wasn't there before...

Welcome to the SSC, we are glad you finally joined us officially! you will have quite a few changes to go through, major life changes. I assume you are in the military. I didn't realize that deployments lasted 2 years, I thought it was months at a time. I am sorry to hear about your family, and the divorce you are going through. It is rough to go through all of those changes.
Good luck,
Melissa
