Brainwashing

I am having an easy quit this time. Yeah, that is almost as bad as the "Have a happy period" commercial, but I attribute this fact to Chantix, this site and finding out about addiction, and the Allen Carr book. How big a part each of those have played, I really don't know. I am the kind of person who has always been like "don't tell me how hard it is or how bad I feel, because that makes it worse" and with smoking, I always had a hard time quitting. Part of it was (I think) because I and everyone around me said I was going to have a hard time, it would be the hardest thing I ever did, there was an huge relapse rate, tougher to kick than heroin, can you feel your shoulders slumping? I can feel my shoulders slump and my head hang. Now I know that people do have a hard time and have a much worse experience than I am having. I have had a much harder time in previous attempts, this time is just different. Chantix users - how did you feel?

Well, I didn't feel tired from the Chantix. However, I took them for 10 days and smoked just as much as ever, and thought it wasn't working. I then stopped (because I ran out) and had no trouble at all. Now, nicotine is a stimulant, so it is possible that it is interfering with the nicotine already...I have also read that stopping smoking does make your blood sugar go down quicker than usual. I would maybe tomorrow try drinking fruit juices and see if that helps. Just an idea, someone may come along with a better idea. Day 1 and the cats are in heaven!

Well, the way I understand the Chantix, is it blocks the nicotine receptors, and it also causes some of the additional dopamine to release. So it does some of what the nicotine used to do and keeps the nicotine from working. If that makes any sense. You keep taking it because in time your nicotine receptors will go away, and your brain will resume making dopamine like it did before nicotine came into the picture. I had the vivid dreams for the first couple of weeks and then they went away and I don't remember them anymore. I found them entertaining.
