Hi Harrell Quitting cold turkey is a tough way to go but you appear to be doing well and I salute you .I quit cold turkey when I was 31 and lasted for 5 years.Unfortunatly a messy divorce sent me back to the weed again ?? My family is spread all over Canada and where not big communicators plus all my friends are smokers one of them has had 4 heart attachs and still continues to smoke ??? My support comes from this site if I had,nt have found it I,d still be smoking. When I first started here I still had doubts about quiting even after receiving 10 weeks of free patches. So like you I go at it one day at a time and find it becomes a little easier each day thanks to the support I get here..
Hey Maggie Not to worry..I lost my dad to cancer when I was 14 plus many aunts and uncles all of whom were smokers my mom passed away 10 years ago also from cancer. So as you can see I have a better than average chance of going the same way.Now you,ld think I would have the brains to have ducked smoking?? but oh no I had to try it.This is another good reason for giving it up because if you want to die a very painfull death this is the way to go . Believe me I have witnessed it first hand.I don,t want to be morbid thats just the way it is.. Bear

Good Morning Everybody And A Happy Easter to all.I just checked the old thermometer it,s -10 again. This is supposed to be SPRING ??? I think even Jesus would be a little ticked at this nonsense. After I turned off the computer last night it suddenly dawned on me not only is this a great site for support but its also a great site as a reminder of the consequences of smoking..I maybe wrong here but if memory ??? serves me correctly smoking is the number 1 contributer of heart disease in North America.Well enough preaching for today hell I,m starting to sound like Billy Graham !!! and you know thats not my style ;p :p :eg:

Today I spent part of my afternoon reading many of the posts written before and since my arrivel here.
Many of you have been quite open about your disappointments, losses and frustrations with life.
Suddenly I realized I was not the only one who had suffered and in many cases mine where rather minor by comparison.
So I would like to apoligize if I have appeared to be frivilous in my attitude, there are a lot of kind, sensitive people here and I have a great deal of respect for you all. Bear
