Hi Bear -
I think that you ask a great question & make a great point. This site is helping us to treat the problem (our addiction) - teaching us new coping skills, giving us new information, and providing us with the support that enables us to get through this process. It's a priceless resource. But, we're not necessarily touching the issue of what caused the illness (addiction) in the first place. I know that there is a genetic component to addiction (we're either born with the genetic predisposition to addiction or we're not) - scientific research has proven this. But, not everyone who is born with the "addictive gene" becomes an addict, so why did we? I have my own understanding for my personal situation/life experience. I strongly believe that therapy is the place to figure this out and could be a great benefit for everyone. Just my opinion of course!
So how's that for a long answer to a short question Bear! ;p
